DISCLAIMER
This quotation has been prepared exclusively by the student/applicant or if prepared by the Nelson Mandela University, it is
based on information supplied by the student. The onus rests with the student to ensure that all the modules listed in
the fee estimation are aligned with the prescribed modules of the Faculty prospectus.
Fees and conditions are determined by the Nelson Mandela University Council and are subject to amendment without prior
notice.
Nelson Mandela University cannot verify the accuracy of this quotation and accepts no liability whatsoever in relation to any
loss, expense, claim or damage, whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising from the reliance upon any
information contained in the quotation submitted to you by the student/applicant.
The University is only able to confirm the accuracy of this fee estimation once the student/applicant has completed the
formal University registration process.
Any estimation in respect of a future academic year will be subject to the annual increase in fees which
becomes available only at the end of the current academic year. Residence and Meal fees are indicated under the section
Residence Fees and Meal Management System.
An enrolment fee of R 1,350.00 will be debited to the student's account and is payable every year of registration.
Enrolment fees are not refundable under any circumstances. The amount is payable by 20 June for year enrolments and
30 September for second semester enrolments.
A down-payment is the first payment towards tuition fees and is payable after the University has confirmed that the student
is provisionally accepted. It is payable BEFORE every registration and is reflected as a payment on the account statement.
Should a student wish to register for modules costing less than the required down-payment, the cost of the modules as well
as the enrolment fee and the late enrolment fee (if applicable) are payable in full before registration.
IMPORTANT: Down-payments and student account payments are to be made to a specific bank account. The
student number is the reference number for electronic / direct bank payments in respect of student account
payments.
Electronic / direct bank payments do NOT reflect immediately on your student account and processing may take up to 2
days. Down-payments must therefore be made 2 days prior to registration. Registration will be blocked until the
payment reflects on the student account.
Queries will be attended to only after the 2 days period has expired. A copy of the bank deposit slip / electronic proof of
payment is required. After the payment has positively been identified on the Nelson Mandela University's bank statement
the student will be able to continue with registration.
PAYMENT DATES
IMPORTANT: The Nelson Mandela University maintains a firm payment policy and payment dates must be strictly adhered
to. These payment dates cannot be extended under any circumstances as the University does not permit instalment
arrangements beyond the respective payment dates.
* Students applying for registration changes AFTER the last date for module amendments - the cost of the modules are
payable upfront if registration takes place after payment due dates.
Interest is charged monthly on overdue amounts. Exam results and study records are released only if accounts are settled
by the respective payment dates.
* Students enrolling after the published dates are liable for late enrolment fee. If registration takes place after the payment
due date, the full amount is payable
IN THE EVENT OF A CANCELLATION, A STUDENT REMAINS LIABLE FOR THE LATE ENROLMENT FEE RAISED ON
THE ACCOUNT.
Residence fees cover only academic semesters and exclude all vacations.
A registration fee of R 550.00 per annum is charged to the student’s account.
The residence down-payment of R5800.00 is an advance payment towards the residence fee and is payable after
confirmation of acceptance.
Both the academic registration down-payment and the residence down-payments are payable before admittance into
residence. No accommodation can be reserved for a student with an unpaid student account and/or an outstanding
academic and residence down-payment. Only full time students can apply for residence.
The residence tariffs indicated do not include the cost of meals. An independent firm provides the catering services for
residence students. All students are expected to make an advance payment for meals. The cost of meals ordered by
students is deducted from the credit balance of their meal accounts. The standard cost of meals is based on a standard
menu for 3 meals per day.
Any items ordered additionally are payable in addition to the standard price. The estimated cost for 3 standard meals per
day for 2020 amounts to R18 160.00 (the amount excludes beverages). All enquiries regarding meals must be directed to
