Fun and Fitness Circuit from Spark PE

Fun and Fitness Circuit is a fitness activity where students are in groups and rotate through
different stations where there are different exercises at each station. The students stay at each
station until the song being played stops and they are instructed to rotate stations. The
exercises are placed in shoulder folders and attached to a cone so each group knows what is
expected of them. One way I could integrate technology into this lesson would be to give each
group a laptop with a link to the fitness circuit. The groups will stay together throughout the
entire lesson and instead of rotating stations, at the end of each song they will look at the
laptop and find the next exercise they will be doing. The link will be in a presentation format
with a picture and title of the exercise. If for some reason the groups are still confused about
what they are supposed to be doing, they can click on the YouTube link provided and find an
instructor demonstrating that exercise. There are a few advantages to administering the lesson
in this different format. One of those being that groups can work at their own pace and take
extra time on the exercises they feel they need to work on. Another advantage is that it gives
the instructor to make the groups as large or small as they would like. If a particular class works
better in small groups, then they can have partners and work through the circuit with a partner.
Also, I like doing the circuits for time so it ensures all students are staying active for a maximum
amount of time. This means that if students get through all exercises in the first five minutes
they must continue until the overall time is done. The final thing which will come into play this
school year is that it will minimize interaction with other students since they will not be rotating
across the entire gym.
