Basic operation

A. When we add one quantity to another, we use the symbol + (plus)

This operation is called addition. The result of this operation is called the sum.
B. When we substract one quantity from another, we use the symbol – (minus)
Kthe name of this operation is substraction. The result of the operation is called
difference.
C. When we multiply one quantity by another, we use the symbol x (multiplied by or times)
The operation is called multiplication. The result of this operation is called the product.
D. When we divide one quantity by another, we use the symbol (divided by)
The name of this operation is division. The result of this operation is called the quotient.
E. The result of these operations are indicated by the symbol = (equals)

Before practicing reading the mathematical symbols, make sure that you have been familiar
with numbers because the symbols will mostly involve numbers.
67 (sixty-seven) is a number. It is a whole number or integer. A number consists of one or
more digits. 3, 5, 7, 9, 67, are odd numbers. Meanwhile, 2, 4, 6, 8, are even numbers.
