Facts:

The Defendants-Appellants were convicted in the lower court for the violation of Article
475 of the prevailing Penal Code which states that:

"Any minor who shall contract marriage without the consent of his or her parents or of
the persons who for such purpose stand in their stead shall be punished with prision correccional
in its minimum and medium degrees."

Marcosa Penalosa was a minor when she married the co-defendant on the 3rd day of May,
1901, without the consent of her father. She was led to believe and understand by her father that
she was born in 1879 thus, making her at legal marrying age at the time of their wedding.

Issues:
WON there is an intention to commit the crime provided for and punished in Article 475.
WON the defendants can invoke mistake of fact as a defense against criminal liability.
