Reflection Paper: WHO AM I?

Who am I? to start with this, it’s a simple question and appears to be easily

answered since I should know myself better. But how do I really know that I answered

correctly who I really am? My answer is, it really depends on the circumstances I am

facing to really know who am I. But of course, I can begin answering this question by

elaborating things that I feel will accurately describe myself – my age, what I am

currently doing, what things I enjoy doing, and so on. But do those things truly

characterize who am I? What about my hobbies? my personality? How about my

interests? I realized that in order for me to really know the answer, I should consider the

different aspects that will contribute on how should I know myself. And then it hit me

hard because that question is a lot more complicated than I thought it would be.

Reflecting encourages us to improve our talents and assess its efficacy, instead

of simply trying to do things as we have always done them. It's about asking, in a

constructive way, what we are doing and why we are doing it, and then determining

whether there's a better or more effective way to do it in the future. See, who I am can

moreover depend on where I am, what I’m doing, who I’m with, among other things. As

I have said, Who I am is continuously changing in a few ways. Some individuals will

never see certain sides of me because I am not with them most of the time, but I always

remember that each of the numerous sides of my character makes up who I am. At

some point when I am with individuals that I really know, I’m completely active and

talkative, but match me up with the individuals I am not familiar with and I’m modest as I

can ever be.

Who am I and how do I know it? To put it simple, I believe I am a person who has

a big dream to achieve, I am a woman who live my life to its fullest. I am simple, and

always believe that I can be better as I am today by giving my best efforts to my

priorities in life. I love cooking, I enjoy baking, and most of all I am better at singing than

dancing. I can be good at this subject, I can be a disappointment sometimes to the

people around me, I can be creative but not intellectual in this matter, I have my flaws,

my imperfections and have my insecurities as well. People say I am sometimes quiet,

which I think is true. While I may come out as shy to the new people around me and

those who don’t know me, I’m actually quite talkative and friendly. The reality of the

matter is I rarely make the first approach to talk to people I don’t know. Moving on and

most importantly, I really want to live a happy life someday. It may sound weird but it is

the desire I truly want to achieve since I know for a fact that even when you have

money, you can never buy a complete and happy family, you can never buy moments

you want to cherish when you grow old. In short money can’t buy happiness. That is

why it is important for me to live happily.

Moreover, I accept the things in myself that will never change no matter how old I

get, or who I am with. I remembered that if you accept who you really are and what

weaknesses you have is a part of what makes yourself complete. I am somebody who

accepts that everybody ought to live their lives – as long as I am not harming anybody

else – doing anything that makes me motivated.

So possibly that’s who I am? But that can’t only be it, right? There’s need to be

more than that to really express my true self. In reality, it’s a complex topic to address.

And I, might answer as honestly and completely as I can ever be, but by tomorrow, that

answer can be completely diverse. Involvement in everything can alter everything, As

the famous quotation says “change is constant”, I know for myself that I’m not the same

individual I was yesterday.

In spite of the fact that we frequently feel like who we are is ‘decided’ and

characterized by others on how they see us, it’s always that ‘who you are when no one

is observing will truly define who you are as an individual’. So, it’s truly up to each

individual to recognize who they are when there are no eyes on them and make their

own real definition of themselves. Who I am is an always-changing subject that I’m

willing to learn from myself, apply them to my life and trust that they make me better; a

much higher; a stronger; and an improved learning individual as day passes by.
