Chapter 9
The train had traveled 1,382 miles, and Fogg expected to reach New York on December
11. They raced across vast snow-covered plains. There were no houses or people, just an
infinite space with some trees and rocks here and there. From New York, Fogg and his
friends would board a ship to Liverpool and then make the last leg of their trip to London.
the next day more problems were coming. as the train moved further rumbling through the
heart of America, suddenly by the war cries of a band of Indians. Fogg looked out the
window and saw them on galloping horses, brandishing weapons.
"everyone was being attacked get down"
women and children screamed and a window was smashed when a bullet went through it.
the Indian chief rode to the front of the tram and inside. hitting the engineer who fell to the
ground. the boss wanted to stop the train but when I press some levers, I just accelerate.
The director was filming with Fogg
"The Indians have reached the locomotive! We must stop the train in five minutes. Fort
Kearney station is only two miles away; the cavalry is there. They can help us. After Fort
Kearney there is nothing but desert and the Indians will kill us! " "
When the rest of the train stopped, the Indians surrounded it. They climbed onto the roofs
of the wagons. The cannons were bored, the windows were smashed, and people
screamed. An Indian got into Fogg's carriage, but some passengers managed to take him
to the leo.
When Fogg and the officers arrived, they were all glad to see
your safe return with the other passengers and Passepartout. Aouda took Fogg's hand.
They looked into each other's eyes for a few moments, both smiling,
"I'm so happy!" Aouda said. Although they did not say. Fogg and Aouda knew they were
falling in love. When Passepartout saw Fogg give the reward to the soldiers, he felt once
again responsible for his master's troubles. Not only have we lost a day, but I have cost my
kind master a small fortune! thought the loyal valet as he searched around for the train.

When they hit the ground, Fix arrested Fogg and imprisoned him. After
several hours, Fix released Fogg, apologizing for the confusion, as they had
already captured the real bank robber. Once free, Fogg promised to pay
good sums of money for an express train, but even so, he had arrived five
minutes late before the schedule established in the bet and was in
financial ruin.
The dejected travelers headed home and the next day Fogg offered Aouda
what little money he had left to find his relatives. she was impressed by
fogg's nobility, so she asked him to be his wife. Fogg was glad and content,
although he knew that he was no longer rich and could not offer much, but
for the first time he seemed happy. After a while, I knocked the doorknob
to find Reverend Wilson to marry them off.
That same day, the five members of the reform club who had made the
bet, waited for Fogg to arrive while the minutes passed. The crowd had
retreated outside the club to wait for Fogg because he had thrown several
outside bets on his punctual return. Actually, what happened was that
when the doorknob had gone to look for Reverend Wilson, he found out
that they were one day early. Fogg, the methodical and mathematical
man, had forgotten that by going around the world in the direction of the
sun, he had earned 2 hours. And that's how Phileas Fogg won his bet and
the affection of a wife who made him the happiest man
