When it’s Dark

When I made this horror short, I decided to go for a bird box like style with lots of grey and black
shots. The reason I chose bird box is of the fear of the unknown which scares I have always found
quite creepy and I am Shure a lot of other people did as well after reading other reviews bird box.
Therefore, in my horror short I edited the shots so that you couldn’t quite make out the objects in
shot and having the dark figure in the shot also added to the shots. The shadow section of the film
went on for dark to long in my opinion and could have been cut shorter. The shadow shots I created
were inspired by the shot in bird box where you see the shadow but never see the monster.

There are many things I would change in this horror short one of them being the amount of grain in
the shot although it does look quite good as it feels more realistic almost like the person behind the
camera didn’t have time to fiddle with the cameras as it was verry dark. Plus, the grain also helped
me with the transitions as you can’t see most of them in the short.

I would also change the location of my film as it wasn’t as scary as I had hoped. Next time I would try
to find somewhere abandon or a dark forest. Before I started my horror I researched lots of horror
shorts on YouTube and found that the music helps to create that creepy and jump scare worthy
atmosphere which keeps the audience on their toes.

I would also like to get more shots if possible if I did it again as it was hard to edit more or less the
same shot over again and turn it into a story.
