How well did you show the topic in your production?

I chose the topic of poverty for my production as it was one of the most highly voted things
on the survey I ran with people in my target audience. I chose this issue as it is one of the
topics you can take in any direction as it can be interpreted in a lot of different ways. I did a
lot of research on the topic and I found that a lot of productions use dark blue colours and
blacks this also shown as a lot of productions didn’t have much audio which is something I
wanted to try incorporate in my production with none of the main charters speaking.

My research helped me write my story as it like the idea of the ethics behind is it fair to own
an expensive luxury item when people are starving on the street and I thought I would try
make my own adaptation

I think I showed the topic to an acceptable level, I think some of the topics I cleared could go
into more depth on the topic in certain parts and I could have narrowed it down to 1
focused topic rather than one huge topic. To improve the topic, I could re write my story as I
ran myself into the issue where my story was to short to tell. This meant that I ran out of
footage quickly, this meant that I didn’t have enough to make 3 mins and that I had to fill a
lot of time with news clips this ruined the narrative of the story, this interrupted my story
telling.

From the survey I ran people were easily able to tell that the production was about poverty
this was good as I was unsure if people would think that it was about homelessness as it
could be interpreted that way. But I am glad that people were able to read the message. I
was trying to give off in this production.

Did your production reach your target audience?

The audience wanted to see a story which could be interpreted in any way you wanted you
could see it as the person in poverty is the bad guy as they steal the watch form the rich
person but you could also see it as the rich person is the bad guy for owning an expensive
watch like that when people are starving. And I wanted my audience to explore that.

I believe that the production reached the target audience correctly as the footage shown is
not too complex to understand which made it easier to follow for a slightly less mature
audience. I also tried to keep the pacing of the video at a quick and constant which helped
with the flow of the video. It also helps out younger audiences follow as they enjoy a faster
video with more cuts and changes.

According to the survey I ran people found it clear that It was about poverty. They also show
that people in my target audience felt the power of the message I was trying to deliver this
is good as people realised that the narrative I was trying to show.

What were the successes of your production?

The fist success of my production was the opening credit scene I used as I think my credits
were unique to everyone else’s and worked really effectively this made an interesting start
to the production while also introducing the actors and crew.

My next success was the news segments I added to try fill the time. This ended out working
really well at filling the time and added to the story. It also helped keep the pacing of the
production.

Another success was some of the shots I got as I think some of the shots and angles I used
were really impactful and it made the production look so much better. I would have liked to
have done more of those different shots to use in my production as they turned out looking
a lot better

Lastly a success of mine was how quick I recorded it although this turned into the issue
where I didn’t have enough footage, the efficiency in which I got it all recorded was very
good as I got it done within the time I scheduled which some people didn’t managed to do.

What didn’t go so well?

I ran out of footage quickly meaning that my production had minimal footage which I
recorded this effected the story line and narrative of the production this meant that my
story wasn’t fully complete this was an issue as the production didn’t turn out long enough
as it needed to be 3 mins but I only got 2:30 mins.

Another issue I came across is that a lot of the footage was blurry or grainy which was and
issue as I couldn’t got back and re-record it. This meant that some of the footage I recorded
wasn’t or was hard to use in the production. This could be avoided easily by changing the
camera setting to fix the video

I also ran into the issue that my story was hard to follow this was a big problem as my story
didn’t add together full and it is easily misinterpreted and hard to understand. This was
because some of the backstory and information about the characters was not added into
the production. I didn’t know how to add this information into my production so I had to
leave it out, but when you watch the production on its own it can be hard to understand the
backstory of it and what happens in the production.
What would you do differently?

I would make sure that I record enough footage for my production as otherwise I would run
out like I did this time. I will need to make sure that I record on an earlier day this means
that if I have to re-record then I will be able to as this time I record on the Thursday this
meant that I couldn’t re-record as I only had one day and my actors were booked.

I would also make sure it is easier to edit as. I struggled to edit all the footage up this
effected my pacing and made it so I couldn’t do the fast and choppy pace I usually use for
my editing. This effected the quality of the edit as I think I could do a lot better in the right
circumstances.

I would also change the way that I planned as the way I planned it put me out for success
form the start as I thought my production would be longer than it was this meant that I ran
out of footage

One other thing I wouldn’t do again is record outside on a winter night if I can avoid it. This
was an issue as my actors and I were freezing this meant that we rushed a lot of my footage
as it was too cold to stay outside for a long time. This also meant that it was hard to get all
the equipment in place as a lot of it has small little screws or fiddly pieces and my hands
were freezing meaning it was hard to set up.

What will be the focus in your next project?

I will focus on recording too much and not too little. I will make sure to over record as I find
it easier to cut down footage into sharp snappy clips that I do to try drag on a piece of
footage for too long.

I will also need to make sure that none of the footage seen is blurry this was an issue with
my camera settings and I have run into it a couple of times in the past, but it really affected
me this time as I had a lot of close up shots.

I would also make sure that all my footage is easy to edit as something that I came across
was that my footage wasn’t easy to edit as it was to short and it was hard to put the clips
together

I will need to make sure that I plan loads of my footage ahead of time as I had the issue that
I didn’t plan hard enough so when I got to recording the production then I didn’t know what
to do which effected the professionalism of my footage and productions. This made it
harder to edit record over all ruined the production.
I will also focus on time management in the next production more than I should have as I
ran into the issue where one of my actors was ill on one of the days I wanted to record and I
didn’t have the ability to plan out my time properly meaning that I had to rush a load of my
recording. This also means when I was doing my planning I should have dedicated more
time to doing it than I did.
