1. What is the old man’s attitude to life and death?

That life is lived long and happily and in harmony with nature, and death is not a frightening end
to life if that life was lived right and without regrets.

2. What is the old man’s attitude to science and technology?

Science and technology are not necessary to achieve “the good life” – rather, the latter can be
achieved by living a simple life in harmony with nature.

3. What do you think is the role of technology in the village?

I think there is no role of technology in the village since they are living in harmony of nature.

4. What is the visitor’s attitude to life?

The visitor is used to a modern technology way of life that’s why he has so many questions
about technology in the old man.

5. What is the visitor’s view of the village?

A village who use no modern technology. Find it hard to believe a place like that can actually
exist.

6. What is your reflection on the short video?

The video taught me that technology is sometime can be an illusion. We think that convenience
is better. That living in a fast-paced world is better. The scientist promises innovations that aim
to ease lifestyles and make living convenient, but leave us dissatisfied in the end, or crave for
more. We develop technology that is people-centered and is separate from nature. We are
destroying our habitat inch by inch and ignore the unbalance of technology that we worship and
the nature that we live in. Indeed, technology can be beneficial. Faster land cultivation, faster
transportation, faster learning and education, as well as entertainment. But we do not have let
ourselves resolve around silicon chips and metal parts. We have to re-sync with our nature and
use what can it offer without beating it to death.
