INTRODUCTION OF SOCIAL MEDIA
In this modern era, the Internet and computers have changed the needs and conditions of
work, communications, conferences and businesses around the world. Thanks to this high-
definition technology, everyone is able to share unplanned and incomprehensible activities until
decades ago.
The importance of work and daily life cannot be emphasized without social networks
such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Hangouts, Instagram, let's talk to others. This social
network is a fun part in terms of games, movies, music, social and communication networks,
brainstorming, education, and more.
THESIS STATEMENT
Study shows that the greater part of the cybercrimes occurs in Malaysia through web-
based media which is Macau scam, phone scam and many more. These tricks are ordinarily done
by Nigeria nation, Africa, China, etc. In light of the examination above, social media is a cutting-
edge wonder, reforming and speaking with each other. The boundless social media tricks can
possibly make critical mischief customers regarding money related misfortune, enthusiastic
prosperity and corruption of trust.
3
DEFINITION OF CYBER CRIMES
First and foremostly, I will start by talking about the importance of cybercrime. Digital
hacking is the crime of directing or using a computer, cyber organization or systematic device,
such as fraud, malicious production, or malicious damage to property. The main reason crime
seems so bad is that it can involve stealing a lot of money in a short period of time. Regardless,
digital crime is not just a matter of money, but our children and our safety are at stake.
Next, I am going to show you the classifications of Cyber Crimes. Cyber Crimes can be
classified into three major categories as cybercrime against individuals, cybercrime against
property, and cybercrime against society.
4
CYBER CRIMES AGAINST INDIVIDUAL
Additionally, there is another scam known as a phishing scam. This scam is a process by
which fraudsters trick you into giving them your user IDs, passwords or credit card details so
that they can access your online banking accounts. This can be seen from the fact that since the
order from (MCO) started, many Malaysians have received online face mask scams. The star
reported that two people in Penang lost RM 41,920 to a scam when they tried to buy 700 boxes
of face masks online, but never got the masks, despite being told they would get them there in
days to seven days.
In addition, incorrect system tests for Covid-19. This scam can look real with leg-to-foot
signs, tents, protective suits, and sensible-looking tests. Studies have developed experiments that
can quickly and easily screen large numbers of people with Covid-19 antibodies. This includes
applications for FDA approval to test for antibody tests, advertising from social media platforms,
email, phone calls, online, or from unknown resources that have non-promotional offers. free to
test. As an illustration, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaacob said on June 7, 2020 that the public could
not buy false documents and receive false Covid-19 test reports showing negative results as it
would put themselves and others at risk. However, two suspects were arrested in connection with
a syndicate, which resulted in the results of a negative Covid-19 test.
5
CYBER CRIME AGAINST PROPERTY
The travel package scam is also that cheap travel package scam is usually displayed on
social media platforms. The prices will be very cheap. The package costs RM 200-250 for three
nights. Unfortunately, the agent will leave after the funds are deposited in the account. In this
case, 120 Mimanteans joined the KLIA on February 10, 2019 after losing RM 810,000 to the
fraud with the travel package. As reported by Kosmo, all victims in the north and south lost more
than RM 810,000 after telling the airline that the name was not listed on their flights to Turkey,
Paris and Santorini.
At the same time, there is an investment scam that can be misleading to get a significant return
on your money in a short period of time. The fact is that this is never possible. Scammers use this
tactic to hunt down gullible Malaysians who, for whatever reason, want to make money quickly.
As the fraud in Macau shows. This intimidating device was intended to force the desperate and
intimidated victim to transfer funds to the scammer's account for immediate deletion of their
records. As one of the most widespread cases in Malaysia, 1,911 fraud cases were recorded in
Macau between January and October 2019.
6
CYBER CRIMES AGAINST SOCIETY
After the next cybercrime, it is cybercrime against society, when cyber-crimes are
committed against different people, online betting and selling illegal products are reported. Web-
based bets are available directly on the internet and include poker, club and game bets. In
Malaysia, internet betting has been “wild” since MCO was founded. In a press release, Police
Commissioner Abdul Hamid Bador stated that police would take action against unauthorized
internet gambling and the delivery of illegal cigarettes on April 6, 2020.
In addition, selling illegal products is a type of scam that makes consumers feel safe to
buy. But on the dark side, it's illegal. For example, Covid-19 illegal drug sales soared on April
30, 2020. The attack on Operation Pangea XIII on the Ministry of Health seized more than one
million units of unregistered drugs valued at RM55 million. The latest cyber crime is deceptive.

to update programming and keep it refreshed. Anti-virus programming permits clients to
examine, distinguish and eliminate dangers before they become an issue.
Something else likewise clients ought to be careful with not opening suspicious texts, pop
- up windows or snap on connections or connections in messages erase them. On the off chance
that you are uncertain, confirm the character of the contact through a free source, for example,
telephone directory or online inquiry.
For the most part, clients should make aware of not answering calls about your PC
requesting far off access. Immediately, hang up regardless of whether they notice a notable
organization, for example, Telstra. Scammers will regularly request that you turn on your PC to
fix an issue or introduce a free redesign, which is really an infection which will give them your
password and personal details.
Next, there's another prevention that consumers should be aware of when sending
personal data or money requests. Never send money or give out credit card information, online
banking details, or copies of personal documents to anyone you do not know or trust. Money
laundering is a crime.
In particular, there is another obstacle to this cybercrime: the user must protect their
mobile devices and computers. Always use password protection, do not share access with others
(not even remotely), update your security software and maintain your content. Protect your WIFI
network with a password and avoid using public computers or WIFI sites to access online
banking or provide personal information.
The last anticipation of cybercrime is evaluating your protection and security settings via
online media. In the event that you utilize online media systems administration's destinations, for
example, Facebook, be cautious who you interface with and figure out how to utilize your
protection and security settings and to guarantee you remain safe.

LITERATURE REVIEW ON CYBER CRIMES
Cyber-attacks are also attacking unsafe online users who use a computer as a criminal
(hacking, phishing, spam, etc.) or as a tool to encourage other criminal activity (stalking). Cyber,
identity theft, child pornography, etc.). Cyber-attacks are on the rise, making cybersecurity a
challenge in this digital age. Cyber-attacks, if launched successfully, can cause significant losses
to businesses and individuals. Rapid incident responses are therefore required to save the day in
the event of a cyber-attack. However, this document recognizes that cyber-attacks can be
targeted, non-targeted, or internal. The study found that one of the top cybersecurity challenges
is the misleading strategies and ubiquity of cyber criminals. The study described practices that
prevent cyberattacks from recommending that campaigns adopt, implement, and regulate
incident response plans. The study also identified cybersecurity strategies to mitigate cyber-
attacks.
