Reflection 2

On Monday, October 19, 2020, my lesson was about the frog life cycle for grade 3 in the
second period. In this lesson. The students were able to identify and use the vocabulary
related to the life cycle of a frog.

At the beginning of my lesson, I checked a student’s prior knowledge about by showing

them pictures about the life cycle of all living things such as plants, animal and human then
asking them what the similarities between this picture so all the students respond with me and
says all living thing a start form baby and until adult. In this part of my lesson, I used John
Dewey theory which believes that prior knowledge impacts the learning process. I
encouraged them all the time by showing pictures. Then, I showed the new vocabulary in the
lesson. They told the meaning of words in their language Arabic. In this stage of the lesson, I
used Schema theory by Piaget in vocabulary learning. They would use their prior knowledge
to guess the meaning of new words using pictures that I showed in the class. This part is
considered the most interesting part because they could make brainstorming to tell me the
meaning of the vocabulary in pictures. Some of them told me in Arabic while others told me
in English but I accepted their answers. Every one told in his or her way.

The next part of the lesson came the video, it was the video of the lesson about how frogs
get to bigger starting with eggs and ending with the adult frog. I encouraged them to
participate in the lesson using new vocabulary they had just learned using their prior
knowledge about the frog. I chose students randomly to answer the questions. All of them
could answer the questions. Moreover, I used brainstorming question to motivate them. They
were very active in the class.

However, the activities appeared as the most successful part because all the students could
draw the frog life cycle correctly in order and they can explain to me pictures exactly in each
stage. All of them were linked by using the Narepod program. These activities measured a
specific level. All students could respond to me and get the correct answer. They all were
enjoying the class.
Finally, the period finished, all of us were very interested in the science class that has a
lot of information. Here, many goals were achieved starting from the frog life cycle and
ending with the quiz where the students were able to understand and absorb the lesson. There
were many strategies used. Moreover, this experience has had a significant impact on
improving my skills in the preparation of online lesson and I will develop my ability to deal
with students to help them understand the subject of the lesson in a simple and easy as well as
devising new strategies contribute to the development of online education.
