Introduction

Entrepreneurs are also looking for new business opportunities. With Agro-Tech I have
establish new automatic electric and solar powered farming equipment. Project Clem
will revolutionize the farming industry through the manufacture of autonomous small
electric vehicles, battery and solar powered tractors and surveying robots changing the
face of agriculture. Mechanized farming will use satellite imagery, drones, ground based
sensors, GPS systems and agricultural robots to control the planting, growth and
harvesting of crops. According to J Spencer and Fendt “Project Xavier. Research in the
field of agricultural robotics” this product reduces the energy used by agricultural
machines by directing actions only where it is needed and focusing activities on specific
areas only. (Spencer, 2018)

Product prototypes includes

1. Solar powered electric tractors

2. Agro-Planting and plant care

Figure 2 Agro-tech planter and plant care

The solar electric tractors and crop planter uses solar energy from the sun which is
converted into electric power when the solar panels charges the batteries and is stored
for use. The batteries can be recharged to solve foreseen farming events during the
rainy seasons. During the day the equipment uses direct energy from the sun.
Recharging of batteries can be a challenge as a typical cycle could take up to 8 hours.
The equipment have power rating of 130KW, battery size of 100kWh and operating time
of 8 to 10 hours.

(al, 2018) In partnership with Naio Technologies “All the new solar powered tractors are
powered from a stationary array plus batteries. This allows the array to be dimensioned
to charge both the tractor and the run other stationary machinery and other appliances
as well as lighting. The combination of cheap solar panels and the evolution of lithium
batteries and other associated technologies have changed the farmers industry.

Target Market

The products of Agro-Tech (solar electric tractors and planters and plant cares), are
focused on marketing them to the commercial, local and international farmers. These
products promote sustainable farming by minimizing the use of pesticides that can harm
the health of farmers and consumers (Brazeau, 2018). The solar electric tractors can
also be used by the government to move waste into waste lands as there are fuel
efficient .Local individual consumers can use the small tractors in Park maintainers and
small scale farming orchards in harvesting season. The electric small farm vehicles can
be used for local transportation from producers (farm) to secondary sectors (factories).

Competitors

Agro-Tech solar electric tractors are in the market competition with the big tractor
manufactures companies that use petrol and diesel. Companies like John Deer,
agco/fendt .Their tractors are have advance specialized equipment that depends on fuel
to operates .These tractor emits carbon dioxides and the cost of maintenance is very
high.

The impact of Agro-Tech solar electric farm vehicles on;

 Business/economy –The finished end product will result in merging

companies in the equipment vehicle parts manufactures, the engine
industry with the mechanical engineering companies. The project will
create employment for up to 80% South Africans will benefits from the
project. The farming will work side by side with the tractor manufactures
to improve and develop efficient, self-sufficient and ecological production
system that provide decent incomes. As a developing nation among the

third power nations, we can export our technological solar electric

powered tractors to other nations and in return will receive foreign
currency which will be an injection and increases the South African GDP.
The prototype will be manufactured in South Africa and local resources
will be used in the process to bring cash inflow into the South African
economy directly. Because the tractor is so relatively cheap, a larger
number of farmers will be encouraged to purchase this tractor therefore
spending their money into our economy as it is a South African product.
This will definitely attract foreign investors and customers as this
prototype is one of the kind it can benefits just as anyone in any country.
The countries that’s are going through heavy problems concerning fuel
and their economy is mostly based on agriculture will purchase the
prototype in bulk bringing in excellent income in South Africa. The
prototype is completely self-sufficient as it runs on electricity and solar
solar radiation so there is no need for fossil fuel like petrol and diesel. The
burning of fossil fuel will be greatly decreased and will reduce carbon
dioxide emission as well as pollution. This will save our country from
spending large amounts of money on fossil fuels and oil from foreign
countries and the money can be used to improve the South African
economy.

 Society-Farmers will be able to grow their crops all year addressing the
issue of food insecurity and poverty. This will promote the ability to obtain
nutritious well balanced meal at all times for the society in farmer’s market
places. These equipment will help in substantial farming methods by
providing decent meals, jobs, food and other goods and services for
majority of people now living in poverty. It allows boosting of rural
territories and creates social links between the rural and urban world.

Conclusion
Page |7

A local study shows that electric orchard tractors could replace up to 800
small tractors on horticulture farms. The solar electric tractors need
around 70% less energy to do the same work as diesel and petrol driven
machinery. Since neither diesel nor oil is required to operate the tractors,
there is no leakage and there is no local emission.
Finally the use of solar powered vehicles will help decrease the use of
fossil fuels and decrease global warming which will result in climate
change.
