Answer the following interview questions while navigating through your Weebly website:

1. Briefly share a little about your background experiences that have led you to choose a career in
education?
I have always wanted to be a teacher, because I like working with and helping children. However, it was
never a good time in Ontario as there was an over-supply of teachers for many years. After looking at
the amount of teachers getting jobs in the 2018 and 2019 school year and seeing that teachers were
starting to attain employment again I decided it was time to begin teacher training.

2. What have you learned in your teacher training program that will make you an excellent
classroom teacher and colleague?
I have learned in my teacher training program that it is important to be adaptable to many different
classroom environments. Students will bring diversity as well as unique situations and challenges that
will have to be overcome. It is important as teacher to be flexible, adaptable and to be able to cater to
the different learning needs of students.

3. Provide us with an example of a lesson you taught. How did you integrate it with other
curriculum areas, address the Common Core Learning Standards, technology, student
engagement and motivation? What were the results of the lesson?
An example of a lesson that I taught was an online lesson on adjectives. I have included this on my
weebly site and it is located here. I integrated it with other curriculum areas by having different types of
activities throughout the lesson. For example, I started the lesson off by explaining the definition of
adjectives and then moved into having students read a story together as a class which showed their
reading skills. There were several common core learning standards involved including: using and
choosing between adjectives, distinguishing shades of meaning between verbs and adjectives, using
words and phrases acquired through conversations, reading and being read to, reading texts containing
adjectives, using familiar words and phrases to communicate relevant meaning, and confirming spelling
and word meaning or word choice using different types of resources. Technology was incorporated
because I used a powerpoint presentation to teach the lesson and the screen-omatic software to record
the lesson. Students seemed motivated and excited to learn about adjectives and the lesson was well
received. Students did well on the worksheets they had to complete after the lesson.

4. How will your knowledge of the current trends in education inform you as an educator in our
district/board/school?
My knowledge of the current trends in education will allow me to be an informed educator as I will cater
lessons, the use of technology and the setup of my classroom to the needs of my students to ensure
they are successful. I will also constantly keep updated on new educational trends as they become
available. As seen on my weebly website, which is also in my Capstone project artifacts, I have many
different resources available to my students like information about how to stay safe online, information
about how to get in touch with me, and there are different lessons online as well. All of these pages
display my technological skills and capabilities as a future teacher.

5. Why should we hire you instead of the other applicants we have interviewed?
I think I would make a great hire as I am very adaptable to new technology and trends, as can be seen
on my weebly website, I understand that the classroom can contain a lot of diversity and that it is
important to cater to each student and I strive to ensure students are successful while also enjoying
their time at school.
