Pop Art Webquest


You have to answer the questions on a word document and send it as an
attachment. I will send it back to you after I evaluate it. You can surf the web
for information on different websites. When we get back to school we will
do a composition based on this art style.

1. Who was Andy Warhol?


He was an American artist who was a leading figure in the visual art
movement known as pop art.
2. Where was he from?
He was from Pensilvania, USA.
3. When was Warhol born? When did he die?
He was born on the 6th of August of 1928. He die on the 22nd of February of
1987.
4. Warhol became known for his images of famous people. List 3
famous people that he used in his art, including a photo of the
painting.

5. Warhol, along with a lot of others, belonged to an art movement called


Pop Art. In your own words, define what Pop Art was and roughly
how long it lasted for.
Is an art based of modern popular culture and the mass media, especially as a
critical or ironic comment on traditional fine art values. It lasted for 10 years.

7. Warhol often does multiple images of his subjects, other times he does
just a single image. An example of this is his Marilyn series of works.
In a sentence state which one you prefer, his single of multiple images,

I prefer multiple images because it looks more attractive

9. Find Warhol’s work titled Marilyn Diptych and list how many colours
he uses. Which side of the work do you prefer…the left of the right
side? Why?
He uses grey, black, yellow, cyan, pink and orange. The left because it has
more colours
10.Look for an image of the colour wheel and explain briefly what it is.
Its a circle with all the colours including primary, secondary, tertiary in order

The primary colours are cyan, magenta and yellow
12.Why are they called the ‘primary’ colours?
They are called primary colours because they cannot be made by mixing
other colours
13.What are the complimentary colours?
They are the red-cyan, green-magenta and orange-blue
14.What is the relationship between complimentary and primary colours?
That complementary colours are the combination of primary colours
