what is the difference between PTC & PT100 their function and
connecting way ?
Published date: 01 August 2020
- PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) and NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) are both types of Thermistor. NTC have resistance that decreases with
increasing temperature. PTC exhibit increased in resistance with increasing temperature.
Thermistor(PTC) have a very high sensitivity, and therefore are very responsive to changes in temperature with faster response time than RTDs(PT100), but
smaller temperature range than RTDs. In short both RTDs and Thermistor are electrical thermally sensitive resistors, they are which changes with temperature.
Both are useful for specific design application.
As mentioned in our previous reply, we do not have any Thermistor relay to connect 6 PTC probes and 2 PT100 Probes. Hence we regret for unable to suggest
any reference for this requirement.
The LT3S range of thermal protection units with PTC thermistor probes. You can connect the probes are PTC technology, not PT100 - the LT3S range only works
with PTC probes. The motor has 3 probes wired in series in the motor providing a total of 750 ohms at 20°C.
You can connect 3 probes in series and connect the start and end terminals to LT3SA00MW relay. So for connecting 6 PTC probes, you may have to use 2
numbers LT3SA00MW reference. PT100 can not be connected with LT3.
