TOPIC: The impact of new Fuels on Engine management: Tools and Solutions
This has been an extraordinary year for shipping, bringing about great opportunities as well as challenges
for operators, manufacturers and suppliers alike. Working closely with customers, Chevron Marine
Lubricants has identified engine issues relating to the adoption of IMO 2020 compliant fuels. They share
insights gained from in-depth investigations by their marine field technical specialists, that reveal a range
of root causes, requiring specific solutions and support.
Chevron Marine Lubricants have been developing marine engine oils for over 100 years. In 2018 they
introduced new formulation Taro Ultra cylinder oils, designed to be compatiable with nearly all IMO 2020
compliant fuels, and have extensive experience lubricating alternatively fuelled and dual fuel marine
engines, including methanol and LNG.
