Pro-life and pro-choice are merely a set of principles that a certain group of people believes in.

They seek to answer and defend their actions or ideas on the morality of abortion. Also, both
are existent in society, we have countries that allow abortion while others such as the
Philippines, prohibits it. Neither of them is absolutely right or wrong.

While the main difference between pro-life and pro-choice is their perspective on abortion.
Pro-choice thinks that the ultimate termination of pregnancy lies in the hands of the person
that is in control of it. While pro-life believes that the determination whether you continue or
not the pregnancy is not even an option since pregnancy is believed to be a gift of God. It was
also observable that pro-life is backed by culture and religion, which agrees why they believe in
their idealisms and live by it. Pro-choice on the other hand believes that abortion is an option
that is purely yours to decide on and certain situations or circumstances can affect or influence
these decisions.

Reality versus Ideal

I just realized that culture and religion play a vital role in the determination of whether you do a
right or wrong act. These practices are then believed to be the standards and that they should
be lived by the people who are in the jurisdiction of these communities. They are idealisms that
keeps us from choosing the other way of the road. While I believe that we shouldn’t confine
and limit ourselves to these standards that are merely set by society. Premarital sex and
abortion are only prohibited because of culture and religion, so I think that we shouldn’t take
others’ freedom just because we don’t share the same belief as them.

Intention
When we look at things or situations, I think we can all agree that we’ve made judgments
without knowing the very core of it. We’ve made conclusions without trying to understand why
do these people can do things that society tagged as unimaginable and undoable. As I age, I get
to understand why people do certain acts. Sometimes I agree why they’ve made their decisions
once I knew their intentions and sometimes I don’t. However, I think my opinion will not
change their decisions or vice versa, simply because we are unique from each other. I am the
only one who knows the very truth behind my decisions after all.

Circumstances
Some people are left with no option but to do abortion or premarital sex. There are a lot of
reasons why these things are being done. There are a lot of factors that most of us don’t even
experience at all. We are not put in the same place as them, some get to taste the wrath of life
and some get to taste the heaven of it. I agree when a woman wants to abort her child if
continuing it means getting a disease over her life.
Diversity
We now live in a very open and diverse community. We share mixed culture and religion, some
doesn’t even have one. With the diversity that we have, it is more difficult to identify which
standard or set of principles we should follow. I think as long as we are not doing any wrong
towards others then we are absolutely free to do whatever we want. Our beliefs should not be
a hindrance to others to practice theirs. I learned that diversity should come with acceptance
and respect amongst cultures and religions.

Rights over standards

I would choose to practice my rights than to conform to society’s standards. I think people
should start to identify that when people do premarital sex or abortion, as long as it's legal,
then we should let them do it. It's their body, it's their life, if that makes them happy or if that's
the only option they have then who are we to say no and prohibit them from doing it. It's their
right, it's their freedom why take that away from them.
