Create a root folder directly on the hard drive (FTProot) for the NE software loads
Copy the 1830PSS-32 R5.1 NE software folder (1830PSS32-5.1-0) into the new FTProot folder

3Com 3CDaemon always starts up with displaying the TFTP server
Click on the FTP Server button in the lower left area to display the FTP server
Click on Configure FTP Server to enter the profile name, password, permissions, and User Directory

• Verify that all of the items on the Installation Checklist are


complete. (Also refer to Appendix A and C for more details.)

• Verify that all of the items on the Network Element Checklist are
complete.

• Verify that all of the steps in the NE Turn Up pages are complete.

• Review the NE Connection pages for establishing the laptop


connectivity to the NE for WebUI and CLI

Chapter 3 Starting the 3Com 3CDaemon FTP Server

1. Open 3CDaemon – It always opens in TFTP Server Mode


2. Click on the FTP Server button
3. Verify that the Server is listening for FTP requests on 172.16.0.2

Important – The PSS-16 Downloads Must Be Performed using CLI commands
listed in the Customer Release Notes.
The PSS-32 Downloads can be performed by either WebUI or CLI

For PSS-32 Downloads Using WebUI


1. From WebUI Administration Drop-Down
2. Click on Software, then FTP Server
3. Enter the FTP Server Information
Server IP, Root Directory /, User ID,
Password, and Confirm Password
4. Click the Apply button
5. Click the Close button

2. Verify that you can ping the CIT port
3. Start a telnet session to the CIT port
4. Connect through CLI

Chapter 3 Clearing the Database

1. After logging in through CLI


2. Enter config database clear
3. Enter yes to confirm
4. The database will be reset
5. The NE will reboot
6. The CLI session will be logged out

** For Network Elements That Had Existing Databases: **


In Step 2. Use the command config database clear ipclear
The database, NE Name, & IP Addresses will be reset
The NE Name will be changed again at the next login

Chapter 3 SDH Mode

SDH MODE (The factory defaults set the NE as a SONET ADM)


** SDH MODE IS ONLY REQUIRED FOR NE’s OPERATING AS SDH ADM’s **
1. After logging in through CLI
2. Enter show version
3. The cli output will read as Software Version: 1830PSS32-5.1-0
4. The Software Version will be used as a password for the sdh mode command
5. Enter config admin mode sdh 1830PSS32-5.1-0
6. Enter yes to confirm
7. The database will be reset with SDH defaults
8. The NE will reboot
9. The CLI session will be logged out
10. Proceed to Committing the Software

2. Verify that you can ping the CIT port
3. Start a WebUI session to the NE

1. Resume with the IEH 600, Section 200, Network Element Setup to complete the
remaining NE turn-up tasks.

Chapter 4 Redundant Equipment Controller (EC) Card

1. Fully seat the redundant EC card in Slot 18 (PSS-32) or Slot 12 (PSS-16)


2. The EC will boot up and declare software version mismatch
3. The EC will also declare an unsynchronized database
4. The automatic software upgrade process will upgrade the redundant EC
5. The automatic database synchronization will update the redundant EC
6. The complete automatic process to synchronize the EC cards can take up to
45 minutes to complete
