1. Discuss the important role of schools as a social institution in developing values among
Filipino learner.
School is an important part of the society. It is known as Social Organization
because it is the school which provides an exposure and prepares the students to
occupy social roles according to their capacities after receiving the school. It is also
considered as a second home for students where they are passes most of their time.
Values Education is one of the most important things that should be taught in
schools. As Filipinos we are all known for our good characteristics. When we were still
small, we are taught by our parents to give respect to elders, love our brothers, sisters
and family, have faith in God and always be kind to others. However, in our generation
today these traits are slowly fading. That’s why it is important to practice values in
schools among students. The educational institute on the country plays a big
contribution in promoting values education for students to construct a good character.
By promoting values education in schools, we can create a better country for the
future generations through lessening the negative attributes by teaching values.

2. Defines sociology of education. Explain how sociology and education interact with each
other. Give some situation or example.
Sociology of education is the study of the relations between education and society.
It also a study of how public institutions and individual experiences affect education and
its outcomes. It is most concerned with the public schooling system of modern industrial
societies, including the expansion of higher, further, adult, and continuing education.
Education and society both are inter-related because both mutually influence
each other. The mode of education and the type of education everything depends upon
the society we live in.

Example: School is become a significant social world for children to navigate.

Unless a child attended preschool or nursery, the structure and routines of the school
day and the social relationships within the school setting must be entirely learned. There
are many new behaviors and experiences that children adapt when starting to school. A
student adapts to form bonds and develop social bonds with other children in school
and learn the work ethic that goes along with school and understand the goals of
learning.
