Personal Statement

I’m Chinapat Prachantasen, Kiiki, and am currently studying in grade 12 at

Mahidol University International Demonstration School (MUIDS). I’m interested in LL.B.
Thammasat University. Studying laws is not easy, it is, indeed, tough. According to
ranking, there’s no other university about laws that is better than Thammasat, so
Thammasat is my priority when it comes to choosing a university. As I’m deciding which
faculty to attend, I noticed that my strength was having a good memory, so I decided to
apply for the course that suits my strength.

The reason why I want to learn in the faculty of law, especially LL.B., is because
my father is a law consultant of a construction company and he graduated from
Thammasat University. As I said earlier, a good memory is essential for studying in the
field of law, and I’m quite confident in my memorization skills. Also, I have once helped
my father with his law work, so I have some experience with the law. He taught me a lot
about working in this field and gave me some advice about choosing faculty to attend.
Although my current and previous studies are not related to the course because no
school would teach high school students about law yet, I have no fear of exploring new
things.

Memorization is not the only skill that will support me in this course;
communication skills and connection are also important for a law candidate. I define
myself as an articulate communicator, and it was my luck that I’ve known a lot of people.
These 3 skills are the most important skill that will support me in this course. Moreover, I
had an opportunity to work as an assistant of my father in the law field; therefore, I have
some knowledge about what to do in different situations that are involved with the law.

After university, I'm looking forward to studying for a master’s degree - attend a
course that is related to LL.B. and will support/benefits in a work environment. After
that I’m planning to open a law firm company with my friends, who are in the same
course as me, to gain experiences and knowledge before entering the real field.

In conclusion, I believe that the law field is not only about the use of law and
giving others judgment but it is about the way you use law in a right way to help other
people who were falsely accused and prevent bad ones from harming other victims.
Consequently, I want to use the knowledge and experience I gained from the university
to help victims from any kind of case and prove them right to make Thailand society
become better. I hope that my strong ambition will help me to get the opportunity to

study at your university and build me to be a valuable asset to society in the future.

Reflection

The main purpose of this writing was to submit to college and introduce myself, why the
college should choose you, but for me, this writing is also something that helps me to
understand myself better and see where I want to be in the future. SOP writing helps me
to know exactly what I wanted to do in college or any further academic field. The process
of writing this task makes me wonder and doubt myself whether I want to work under
law circumstance or not. Finally, I give myself a final thought and push myself and turn
into this piece of writing. By looking into my past, I could see what I enjoy doing most
and understand the aspect of my doing. So I feel that writing this piece encourages and
gives me hope to achieve my goals.

Interview Reflection

To be honest I was not well prepared for the interview. I did overcome it, however. In
the first interview, even though I was not ready but I managed to go with the flow and
answer all the questions wisely and thoughtfully. In the first interview I got 5/6 due to
my unprepared for it, but the score was pretty high and it exceeded my expectation for
the first interview. I was, again, not prepared for the second interview but this time I
managed to get a full score and my answer was straightforward. With some advice by
Mr.Kevin from my first interview, I’m able to keep myself together and pay more
attention to the questions. The only problem from the first interview was that I am not
unprepared to answer the questions and have a little knowledge about the faculty I’m
applying for, so this time I did some research about the university and faculty as
Mr.Kevin said. As expected, I got 6/6 by viewing the video of my first interview, and it
paid off my hard work.
