This lesson teaches you the basics about what is required to build a
WordPress website, and points you toward resources that can help you,
if you choose to use the WordPress platform.
This Lesson Covers:
1. Hosting Plus WordPress
2. The Look and Feel
3. In the Future
4. Getting Started
5. Hosting
6. Themes
7. Paid Installation Services
1. Hosting Plus WordPress
Using hosting and WordPress adds a layer of complexity to creating a brand website.
However, this does allow you more flexibility with your website, more themes to choose
from, and numerous plugins to use (both free and paid).

2. The Look and Feel
You will create achieve look and feel similar to that of a Wix website when you use
WordPress, and you will be able to add more bells and whistles (although those are not
required).
Just make sure that you have a professional-looking website—this gives you
credibility!
3. In the Future
You will eventually have your own ecommerce site (where you sell your products
directly from the site, rather than through Amazon). This ecommerce site will become
your main domain, and any site you set up before that becomes the sub-domain.
Because of this, don’t spend too much time on getting a decent-looking website up and
running right now—it should look professional, but should not take up the majority of
your time as you build your business!
4. Getting Started
You will need to do the following, to create a WordPress site:
1. Create a hosting account
2. Create the WordPress site
3. Choose a theme
4. Add required plugins
5. Add content

5. Hosting
A web host is simply a business that provides the services needed for a website to be
viewed on the internet. Most hosts are reasonable, and allow you to do what you need
with WordPress. We recommend two particular hosts:
● Hostgator
● Namecheap
You can also search google for “WordPress hosting,” and find a host that you prefer.
Setting up a hosted WordPress site is extremely complex, and would encompass an
entire course, which is why we recommend setting up a Wix site for the time being.
However, if you are absolutely determined to have your own hosted site, we recommend
that you hire someone to do it for you!
6. Themes
You will need to add themes to your WordPress site, but these are easy to find online.
We have also provided you with several themes, which you can find in the ASM private
vault.
Hexater.com has also provided our students with one of their premium themes, which is
also accessible in the private vault.

7. Paid Installation Services
Expect to pay anything from $25–$100 to use a paid installation service (there are many
options available to you). Anything less will likely be poor quality, and anything more is
overpaying.
Check out fiverr.com to find some relatively cheap options. Also, consider looking into
Hexater.com, who also provide an installation service (at a reduced rate for ASM
members).
These are the basics of what you need to build a WordPress website. Please note that
we strongly recommend using wix.com, which is free and much easier to use as you get
started. Once your business is up and running, you may be able to spend more time on
your website, but for now, you need something simple and professional-looking to
establish your brand’s credibility.
