Formative Assessment # 1 – The Nature of Art

1. I can maximize acquiring the learning, life, and literary skills offered by this course by
determining and understanding what art is. Once I get knowledgeable about this area, I am sure
that it can contribute to my growth and how I perceive things especially arts-related topics.

2. I am currently taking Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. I think this course will help me with
dealing with my future clients in terms of closing an agreement. By gaining familiarity with this
course, it can help me to increase the succeeding rate of understanding my future partners/ boss/
clients. Especially art has a special spot in every person.

3. There are many definitions when it comes to "work of art" but as stated in Merriam Dictionary, it
is something giving high aesthetic satisfaction to the viewer or listener. This phrase shows that
the work of art is anything that gives the viewer a meaning to a piece of work. Art is anything that
can exhibit expression or meaning to a piece of work.

4. I think anyone can decide whether a piece is a work of art. Because critics only exist to share their
opinions and knowledge about a thing. But they can also affect other's way of perceiving that
piece of work. Also, the artist itself has its interpretation in his creation.
