PRINCIPLES OF MANAGEMENT (MGM3101)

ASSIGNMENT 1 (15 marks)

OBJECTIVES

The purpose of this assignment is to develop the student’s ability to:

1. Discuss the concept of ethics and ethical behaviour.
2. Explain the meaning of social responsibility.
3. Illustrate some programs or projects carried out by companies in relation to social
responsibility.

REQUIREMENTS

You are required to answer TWO (2) parts. The assignment should be completed in group of
five (5) students.

PART 1

1. Discuss five (5) common examples of unethical behaviour at the workplace.

2. Explain four (4) reasons business should be ethical.

PART 2
1. Explain the concept of social responsibility.
2. Select three (3) different organisations. For each organization that you have chosen:
a) Provide clear and relevant information on the background of the organisation.
(Very clear and focused introduction including a detailed description of the
organization including the name, type of business, vision and mission, types of
products and / or services and employee size.)

b) Illustrate two (2) examples of programs or projects carried out by the company to
illustrate its corporate social responsibility.
(Support your answers with relevant references or paper cuttings, etc)

Format:

 You can answer either in English or Bahasa Malaysia. (You are encourage to answer in
English)
 Not exceeding ten (10) pages (excluding references).-Please observe this strictly.
 Times New Roman 12 - point, 1.5 spacing.
 Proof-read your report before submitting. Overall, the report should be well-presented
with minimal grammatical mistakes. Language should be clear and concise.
 At least five source of references.
 Submit your assignment on 23rd November 2020.
