Various agencies of the government are working around-the-clock in devising solutions to contain the
pandemic. The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), the task force
assigned by the Chief Executive of the government to respond to COVID-19 concerns has modified the
quarantine guidelines to purposely protect the public from further spread of the virus. They have also
successfully recruited and mobilized thousands of contract tracers to be deployed across the country to
further mitigate the contraction of the deadly disease.

For its part, the Department of Health (DOH), the Metro Manila Council (MMC) and various business
organizations are closely working together to iron out issues in complying with the health and safety
protocols with the resumption of business operations halted by the pandemic. With the gradual decline
of infection rate in October, they are united in slowly jumpstarting the economy cautiously. Keeping in
mind that the threat of the virus has not been totally eradicated, all Metro Manila mayors, upon
consultation with IATF, unanimously agreed to maintain the general community quarantine (GCQ)
classification in the National Capital Region (NCR) for the meantime.
