Course Title: Foundation of Education 2: Historical, Philosophical and Legal Foundation of Education

I. Course Description

This course deals with the history, philosophy and development of educational theory and practice as they relate to the national goals of education. It includes a study
of the Philippine educational system. It also into consideration the future society in which the educated will have to live, so that using these past experiences he can plan
better for his future. It also includes a discussion of laws of th country that are pertinent to education.

III. Course General Objectives:

At the end of the course, the students are expected to:


1. Manifest the spirit of inquiry into historical, philosophical and legal bases of education so that they may become effective, dynamic and professional teachers.
2. Recognize the influence of historical and philosophical movements in shaping Philippine education.
3. Develop insights in the solution of educational problems through ideas gained from history and philosophy.
4. Find the legal bases of education and the rationale behind the policies, programs and activities of the Department of Education.
5. Exemplify the intellectual, nationalistic, cultural, moral and spiritual aspects of the personality of the future teachers to make them true, good, committed and
expert practitioners of the profession of teaching.
