Creating the Ambiance Your Restaurant Needs!

 Whether you are starting your own restaurant or you are simply
giving your own restaurant a facelift, you’ll find that you need to
think about the ambiance. The ambiance of the restaurant is
essentially the feel of the place, the impression you get from
dining in the restaurant. Even if your restaurant serves very
simple, no-frills food, you’ll find that you still need to consider
this important factor. The ambiance of your restaurant takes
into account everything from the tables and the chairs to the
walls and the ceilings!
Consider Your Theme

 What kind of food do you serve, and what does it mean to the people who
eat in? For example, if you make traditional United States food, like
hamburgers, fries and hot dogs, people may expect to see a traditional
Americana setting. Some people take this one step further by creating a
setting that looks a lot like a fifties burger joint! On the other hand, if you
are opening a German restaurant, you may be more inclined to use
German memorabilia and traditional German music over the speakers.
Sight and Sound

 While eating food will take care of diner’s taste buds and nose, you’ll find that
you should still appeal to their ears and their eyes. What designs can you put
up that will catch the eye, reminding the diner of your restaurant’s theme? On
the other hand, also consider what kind of music you are planning to play.
Music in restaurants needs to be soft enough to be ignorable if the diner is
chatting or working on something, but loud enough to make an impression.
Remember to suit the music to the restaurant’s theme.
Wall Ledges

 If you want to keep a lot of the décor off the walls,

consider wall ledges. These ledges are typically used to
hold kitchen tools that don’t get used often, but they
can also be used to hold decorations. Line up your
favorite items on the ledge, and secure them in such a
way that the item will not drop down. These wall ledges
keep items out of reach and out of immediate sight,
but they still add to your restaurant’s looks.
Uniforms

 Think about how you want your servers to dress. While uniforms are certainly
a big investment, they can greatly add to the restaurant’s ambiance. For
example, even brightly colored shirts can help people identify your servers.
When uniforms can be taxing, you can consider imposing a dress code. A
simple white shirt and black pants dress code keeps things very simple, but
raises the tone of a place a bit, something that gives your restaurant a slightly
sharper look. If you want to go over the top, consider costumes that
emphasize the restaurant’s theme.
 When you are ready to remake your
restaurant’s image, consider how your
ambiance is coming across. The ambiance of a
particular place is affected by many different
things, and the way that you choose to deal
with it can make a huge difference to your
customers.
