I. OBJECTIVE:
• This activity will enable the students to:
o deduce the nutrient and calorie requirement of an infant.
o Enumerate advantages of breastfeeding.
o identify foods that are essential for an infant

• Modules for NCM 105

III. PROCEDURE:
a. Get a copy of how to prepare complementary foods for an infant.
b. Write one preparation on another sheet. Consider the months to
which foods are to be given.

V. QUESTIONS FOR RESEARCH


1. Why is breastmilk best for infants?
2. When do you start giving solid foods to the infant? What are the foods that
you can give at different months?
3. Why is adequate nutrition important during the first year of life?
4. Calculate for the TER and diet prescription of an eight-month-old baby girl
who weighs 7 kg. The baby is receiving breastmilk and complementary feeding.
