Lesson Plan

Topic : Food

Duration : 1,5 hour

Goals : 1. The students can describe the food that they like or don’t like.
2. The students are able to know healthy and unhealthy food.
1. Introduction

Tell students that today they will be discussing about favorite foods.

You may start by asking their Favorite food?

Or by asking the class who ate something healthy today.

2. Warming up

-On a whiteboard, make two columns. One columns should be labelled “healthy” and
another column should be “unhealthy”. Put a smiley face next to the word healthy and a
sad face next to the word unhealthy to help students understand the chart.

- Let the students to fill the table. They may use Bahasa Indonesia. (At least 10 healthy
and 10 unhealthy)
- Once they have done filling the table, help the students to translate some words which
are still written in Bahasa into English.
- Do not forget to pronounce the vocabularies together.

3. Speaking Practice

Introduce the vocabularies below to the students.

Bitter Hot
Sour Delicious
Spicy Sweet
Salty

Then, teach them how to ask and to explain the foods that they like and they don’t like.

QUESTION RESPONSE
What is your favorite food? My favorite food is ____
Do you like _____ ? Yes, I like it.
No, I don’t like it

Why do you like ____ ? I like ___ because it tastes _____


I like ____ because it is _____

Give them time to write these questions and responses on their notebook.

By the end of the class, ask them to practice with their partners.
