We can do PD on Wixie about the basics, basically the tools that we’ve used in the classroom
etc. then upgrade it to the new features

*meeting with Irene notes

● Can make asynchronous videos into a hub for staff members
● Don’t need to have any synchronous sessions with staff members
● Think about how to collect feedback
○ Collecting teacher made wixies that their students participated in
● Make a signup genius for teachers who need support beyond the asynchronous
videos
● Also have a sign up genius for grade level specific conversations for how to apply
wixie in your own classroom
● Share the video’s that wixie already made and add it for teachers to find from our
hub
● Send a google form for people who are interested and what their needs are (new
features versus knowing nothing)
● Could hold meetings with other staff members with a focus on how to use Wixie
in virtual learning, host discussions for everyone to learn from each other
● The portfolio focuses on the hub itself, not necessarily if we
● Talk in the proposal about how to push the hub out to staff

Activities/things to create to push out to staff

★ Scavenger Hunt
○ finding it on bcps one
○ locating specific teacher tools
○ browsing through the curriculum library
○ Sharing two templates they found with their team or with us ?
★ Creating two Wixies
○ Option 1: All About Me Wixie
○ Option 2: Math (sorting activity, graphing, shapes, word problems, etc…)
○ Option 3: ELA/Inquiry (journaling, vocabulary, story map, creating
informational texts, ect…)
★ Provide with tablet directions/troubleshooting information in case families are
using a tablet and not a BCPS device. (Mary made this and will share)
★ Padlet parking lot, needs to be created and sent out more than once (or say that we
sent it out more than once) to keep interest
★ 1 mandatory check in session, individual sessions via sign up genius, padlet parking lot,
activities for participants to complete to demonstrate their understanding of Wixie,
pre-recorded videos that teachers can send/show to their students on how to access wixie and
the basics of student versions

Proposal Checklist

Writing your 3-5 page proposal is the first step of your internship. The intended audience of
your proposal includes both your internship supervisor as well as the administrator at your
school (or supervisor if completing in your place of business). Your proposal must include:

A rationale for why it is necessary:

● Wixie made updates to its platform over the summer which teachers are unaware of
● Good tool for teachers and students to use in an online learning environment.
● Adult and kid friendly- accessible for different types of learners
● Approved technology
●

A description of the participants, including the number of potential participants

● Participants- 50 potential participants, optional to all

● participants vary from classroom teachers, resource teachers, special area teachers,
etc.

Specific learning objectives stating what you intend to accomplish

● Participants learn the basic features of Wixie

● Participants learn how to use the teacher tools to assign work to students from
the Wixie curriculum library.
● Participants are then expected to do two Wixie assignments with their students:
one "All About Me"-style and one short activity or formative assessment.
● Participants learn how to customize Wixie templates.
● Participants explore ideas for implementing and managing blank- screen project
work, as well as learn strategies for evaluating student work.
●

References to relevant model(s) of change (e.g. Ely’s Eight Conditions of Change, ACOT
Model, Perceived Attributes)

○ Availability of time in the day to complete the training
○ Not much incentive with everything else we have to get done
○ Participation in the process/buy in

References to appropriate technology integration (e.g. TPACK, SAMR, TIM, RAT)

● SAMR
● RAT- ( replacement, amplification, transformation)

A description of how your internship will address change

● Providing more opportunities and better tools to use in an online learning

environment. Whether they knew about wixie before or not, we will reteach the
basics and review the new components of wixie and how to use it in their
classrooms.

An overview of the learning activities and instruction you will provide. A description of the
required online learning component of your internship - this may be in the form of a
webinar, a synchronous session, a compilation of organized resources, or some other type
of online learning

● A resource hub in Google Drive where staff can find specific instructional videos for
how to create a template
● Pre-recorded screencasts
○ Basic tools video
○ New updates in Wixie
○ Create a template and share with a coworker on your team or with us
(complete with checklist)
○ Create something content related that you can push out to your students to
try, give them a chance to reflect on that process to check in and differentiate
the videos to push out
○ Make a padlet for people to post things like a parking lot

A description of how your plan may change if you move from a face-to-face to online or
online to face-to-face plan. This description should focus on the pedagogical and
andragogical changes needed, not just the procedures of change.

● If we end up returning to school, we would be able to provide face-to-face instruction

and troubleshooting if necessary

A realistic timeline (knowing that it may change)

● Complete all instructional videos by the end of October **to be accessed throughout
the year
○ Including google forms, padlet parking lot, etc.
● Make it available for staff and encourage use by mid November
● Staff will make templates and push assignments out to students by mid november,
since that’s when students will be adjusted to online learning
● Hub will get updated throughout the fall to accommodate for any updates in the
program or adjustments to our online learning schedule

A plan for how you will evaluate the participants’ learning

● Google forms
● Padlet parking lot
● Staff will share the templates they’ve made and collaborate within their grade levels

A personal plan for how you will document reflections throughout your Internship

● Bullet Journal in google docs, with an entry for after each session or recording made

You will also want to consider what technology tools and resources you will use
throughout your internship to best reflect appropriate technology integration (think TPACK
and SAMR!). Lastly, be sure to consider best practices for teaching adult learners as you
develop the plan for your internship.

● Wixie, schoology, screen castify, google drive, padlet, google forms.
