● Participants will learn and understand the
basic features of Wixie by completing a
scavenger hunt and submitting it to us.
● Participants will demonstrate their
understanding of Wixie by creating two
wixie assignments and assigning them to
students
● Participants collaborate and share ideas for
implementing and managing blank- screen
project work using Padlet.
Who? Who?

We offered our Professional Development

What? opportunity to staff members new to Wellwood

this year.

What?

Why? Wixie is an online program that utilizes a cloud to

give teachers immediate access to student work.
Teachers can give feedback, use templates, and
create their own projects all within Wixie.

Why?

This program engages students during in person

learning as well as in distance learning.
When?
Where? When?

How?
We asked what the participants preferred and they all said
asynchronous sessions. We had multiple tools for them to use
and communicate with as well as a final synchronous check in
with Kristen and I.

Where?
We use Padlet and Google Meet to post questions and discuss
successes and frustrations online. As we moved through the
internship, it became clear that there would be some things we
might do differently next time for asynchronous activities.

How?
We created a shared folder on Google Drive to share all
resources with participants. They would always have access and
eventually, we could share it with the whole staff.

Wixie, now what?
Improvements
● Adjusting for an in person setting vs. distance
learning model
● Extend the internship
● Requiring synchronous help sessions, even if people
check in to say they don’t need help

Improvements Presenter “Aha’s!”

We learned how to effectively lead new teachers and support

to be made and them as they help learners use a new tool

We learned to collaborate and budget time to make extra

resources to support teacher’s specific needs (parent

what we learned resources, etc)
