INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOWNLOADING
MICROSOFT OFFICE FOR STUDENTS AND
PROFESSIONALS
As a new incoming student or working professional, Microsoft Office is essential
for your success providing tools such as OneNote, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
These tools make our everyday tasks effortless. However, many students or
professionals don’t realize that their university or organization provides this
software for free. The purpose of this instruction manual is for new students
and professionals to be comfortable with installing Microsoft Office on their
computer, specifically running on MacOS.
STEP 1
Open your web browser and go to www.office.com. Click on the sign in
button and enter your university/corporate email.
STEP 2
Then, once you click next, Microsoft will redirect
you to your organization login page. Please login
with your user as your organization email and
enter your password. See an example of an
organization page on the next page.
STEP 3
Once you are signed in, you’ll see a dashboard as shown in the image below.
On the dashboard, you’ll be able to access OneDrive, Microsoft’s Cloud
Storage, where you can observe all of your saved files. In order to install
office on your local computer, click on “Install Office” to view the installation
options Microsoft provides to users.
2
As shown in the image below, we’re going to install “Office 365 apps” which
will provide us with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook,
and OneDrive. However, if any of these tools are not required for your needs,
we can remove it later in the installation process. Click on “Office 365 apps”
and then wait for the download to finish. Once, the installation is complete,
open the package found in the “Downloads” folder located on your computer.
STEP 4
Once you open the package, a window will
open up as shown on the left. Click continue.
Then you’ll see the Software License
Agreement pop up as shown below the
previous image.

STEP 5
Now, you’re on the installation path
section. Keep in mind that the
installation will take up 8.15 GB of your
space so it’s crucial to verify that your
computer has enough space. If you
desire to change the installation path,
click on “Change Install Location…” to
change it.
STEP 6
Click install at the bottom right of the
window and wait for the installation to
finish. Once the installation is complete, a
window will appear as shown on the right.
Click close and you’re ready to use Microsoft
Office!
Microsoft Office is successfully installed and now you’re able to use the
suite of Microsoft tools on your local computer. With this functionality,
you can complete required university/ professional tasks with ease.
Congrats and good luck on your future projects!
