INSTALLATION OF WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM

PRE LAB TASK

Objectives:

 To install windows 7 step by step.

 To install Office 10
 To install browsers

Introduction:

Operating system is that low level software that supports the basic functions of computer
such as controlling peripherals and scheduling tasks.

Theory:

Step 1:
You need to make a bootable file but if you already have boot-able CD/DVD then you
can skip this part. You can make your flash drive bootable. After inserting your bootable device
restart your computer then window will load files as follows:

Step 2:

After loading windows setup, a window will be presented to you. You can select the
language if your preference, keyboard type, time format and then click next.

Step 3:

Next “Install Now” button will appear on the screen. Click on it to proceed further.

Step 4:

After reading the license terms select “ I accept the license terms” and click next.

Step 5:

On next window there will be options of “UPGRADE and CUSTOM”. Click on custom.

Step 6:

In this step you have to decide hard drive and partition on which you want to install window and
if there is any previous data on it format it. Fig 6
 Click on option “Advanced”
 Click on format from drive options.
 You can create partition to install window on it.
 Again select the hard drive from the list of hard drives.
 Click on option “Advanced”
 Select “New” from Drive options.
 Select the size of the drive, and click “OK”.

Step 7:

After installation your PC will be rebooted and then you will see a ‘User Settings’ Screen.
Write your name and click ‘NEXT’ Fig 8

Step 8:

In this step you have to add product key to activate your window. You will get product key from
the back of Windows CD/DVD cover again click next. Fig 9

Step 9:

Select appropriate option according to your need from following window. Fig 10

Now your installation has been complete you can see your desktop. Fig 11

Installing Office 2010 (Windows)
Step 1:

Find your product key for office 10 firstly and it can be found on packaging of disc, on a card
that you have purchased at a retail outlet, or from the online purchase. Fig 12

Step 2:

Insert disk of office 2010 or download the installer from Microsoft. Fig 13

Step 3:

It will start automatically after inserting disc, but if it didn't, open the disc from your
Computer/My Computer screen and runsetup.exe. if you downloaded installer then you will find
it in your download options. Fig 14

Step 4:

Before Office can be installed you will need to enter product key. Fig 15

Step 5:

In this step you are allowed to select which product you want to install and which you don’t need
it can save space in your computer. Fig 16

To complete installation finish it and click close. Fig 17

Step 7:

To online active select" I want to activate over the internet" and proceed next. Or to activate later
open any office program and click
File→ Help → Activate Product Key. Fig 18

 HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL GOOGLE CHROME

Step 1: After opening google chrome website you can use web browser to download Google
chrome.
 Step 2: Click Download

Step 3: Determine if you want to make google chrome your default browser
Step 4: Read Google chrome terms of service and click “accept and install”

Step 5: After installation. You can sign in with google chrome account to sync preferences and
browsing history with any chrome browser that you use.
