Subject: Report of the conference of investigation (symposium style)

The conference was held via Google Meet. Three lectures were held by three different individuals. The
reason for the conference was to present the scientific research that each of them made. Each one had
30 minutes to present and about 30 students were connected to the conferences.

Research Presentation with Julio A. Rivera De Jesus

Julio first started by giving an introduction of himself. Then, Julio presented his scientific research
called: “Ligand-exchange protocol to functionalize CDSE(S) quantum Dots”. He explained the
objectives, methodology and result of the experiment. He talked about his experience in the research
work in different university and how this can open many doors to different types of work in the field of
medicine and pharmacy. Finishing off with the importance of networking and how to build ourselves to
be successful in our carriers.

Research Presentation with Kevin O. Cruz Colón

Kevin presented his scientific research called: “Cholinergic input vasoactive intestinal peptide neurons
of the inferior colliculus”. He explained the research he did about a type of neuron and how this is
related to hearing. Then, he talked about his experience and also some programs that can be very
helpful if we want to continue in the field of research.

Research Presentation with David Medina Suárez

David presented his research and mentioned that Professor Sonia Bailon Ruiz, also in the meeting,
helped with the investigation as a mentor. His investigation was called: “Potential bacterial activity of
silver nanoparticles”. He spoke about the experiment conducted for bacterial activity of silver
nanoparticles, he mentioned the problems, objective, hypothesis, methodology and results.

Conclusion
I was pleased to attend this conference since they talked about research in different topics of science
that I did not know much about. This will help me in the future as I would like to participate in one or
more researches, and now, I am taking a course which I will have to present a type research in a
symposium style, so this helped a lot.
