MUNICIPAL AGRICULTURAL OFFICE

Problem

Recent storm hit local agriculture industry, all local farmers requests for aid. Investing on them
will take years to profit and monthly budget are small, giving them all aid will lead to several
months of scarce budget.

Suggestions

As part of Agriculture industry, it is our responsibility to sustain the need of the local
farmers and ensure their safety. Since we are lacking of budget, we can lend our own money for
the meantime. According to the article “your number one investor is you and your earned
income.” Beside of that, Agriculture industry offer alternative funds if this emergency happens.
Base to my research, the Agriculture investments offer superior returns and provide a hedge
against volatile equity markets, Harvest Returns provides qualified investors with opportunities
to invest in income-producing farmland, timberland, and many other types of agriculture.

Here in the Philippines, the Department of Agriculture help the local farmers to support
and provide their needs. The farmers should request assistance from the government in order
to help them. Through this process, no farmer will be starving. The Department of Agriculture is
making sure to address all problems they may encounter and ensure that the funds is ready
available at any moment it needed such as calamity and emergency loan for every farmer. This
is to ensure also that our farmers can sell their own agricultural products but inexpensive price
within our community. Through this effort, we can help our farmers to have their budget in
wisely manner. It is necessary also to educate our farmers on how to cultivate the land
properly. Proper training on how to cope up when the disasters come like storm. If all farmers
learned all this matter, no one will be left behind.

MUNICIPAL AGRICULTURAL OFFICE

We all known that Philippines is prone to natural disaster like typhoon that can affect
the livelihood and production of goods such as rice, vegetables and any buy product provided
by the farmers. During this calamity and disaster, Department of Agriculture have enough
budget to help the farmers and support their needs. We also known that they are well
knowledgeable about risk management. We can also lend our own money with minimum
interest for the profit. We also encourage the community to buy local products to increase the
demand of goods. By this process, Farmers can easily cope up to this calamity.

Conclusion

In an agricultural country, there are organization that have budget allotted for the
farmer when a calamity comes. Here in the Philippines, farmers are needed to be insured by
the Philippine Corp or Insurance Corp which is under the Department of Agriculture. It provides
financial fund to all the farmers affected by the storm. Every municipality also has its own
calamity fund that can be used in times of calamity. This statement about calamity fund can
support by the Republic Act No. 10121. An act strengthening the Philippine Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management System, providing for the national disaster risk reduction and
management framework and institutionalizing the national disaster risk reduction and
management plan, appropriating funds therefor and for other purposes. So, the there is no
problem when it comes to budget. The municipality is always here to support local farmers with
the use of alternative livelihood using available resources in the area. Livelihood that familiar to
the local famers and have market.

When it comes to lending our own money, I don’t have the right to force every
agricultural employee to lend their own money to sustain the needs of very local farmer. It
depends to them if they willing to lend their money to gain profit for their personal use. In that
case, the organization has no liability because it is their personal decision.
