 Experiences in high need schools.

 Otselic Valley is a high-needs district; of our ~250 students, 55 of them receive speech
services.

 Experiences with each of the following student populations:

 Socio-economically disadvantaged students (usually there are many students in this
category in all schools but probably more in schools designated as high needs):
 OVCS is in a very poor district; most of our students are socioeconomically
disadvantaged, some are even homeless.
 Students who are English language learners (need experience during student teaching—
can be observation)
 We have two PreK students who are ELL; one who speaks Mandarin at home
and one who speaks Spanish. Both were new to the school this year and spoke
little to no English. We have worked directly with these students with play-based
activities and participated in their circle time.
 I also have one sixth-grade student who is and ESL student and speaks Spanish at
home. Part of the reason she is receiving speech services is because she still
struggles with some expressive and receptive language.
 Students with disabilities (speech and language disorders can be classified as disabilities)
Also mention other students that you have worked with and/or observed in the category.
 Learning Disability
 Speech-Language Impairment
 Person Who Stutters
 Autism
 ADHD
 Articulation/Phonological Disorders
 Expressive and Receptive Language Disorders
