REQUIREMENTS TO THE FINAL COURSEWORK FOR THE

COURSE INTELLIGENCE SYSTEMS – 1/2

OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE

Demonstrate the master student’s ability to apply a theoretical knowledge in a practice solving a specific problem
as well as an ability to run a research. Coursework can be done in one of two areas:

1. Some applied problem solving by means of chosen by student methods studied within the course and
research of chosen method for the influence of its parameters on the work results
2. Independent studying of one of the new methods that wasn’t considered in the course and research of it
on the base self-implemented program by means of available ML libraries.

WHAT SKILLS SHOULD A MASTER'S DEGREE STUDENT HAVE?

Student should be able

• Make a problem statement for the specific problem solving in the applied area. At the same time the
student should be able choice the correct method for the problem solving, to formalize the task,
parametrize the chosen method (algorithm).
• Correctly plan experiments and implement them.
• Independently implement the chosen algorithm/method by means of standard methods.
• To aware that an implemented method works properly
• Choice the criteria for algorithm’s investigation
• Define the parameters that set up the work of algorithm and have an impact on its work
• Plan the experiments for the algorithm/method’s research
• Implement the plan of experiments and analyze the obtained results
• Formulate and consistently state thoughts in a report, build judgments, put forward hypotheses, test
them and draw informed conclusions

WHAT SHOULD MASTER’S DEGREE STUDENT DEMONSTRATE?

• Knowledge of methods and approaches existing in the field of artificial intelligence

• Understanding what tasks these methods are intended for
• Ability to apply the selected methods in practice
• Ability to conduct research, critically evaluate the results and tune algorithms for the better results
• Ability to conduct research and make intermediate and final conclusions

The results of the course work are drawn up in the form of a report and presented at the end of the course

REQUIREMENTS TO THE REPORT

The report should include the following sections:

• Title page
• Content
• Problem statement:
o description of the selected task or problem requiring solution
o justification of the choice of the method for solving the problem
o description of the studied method or algorithm, that will be used of the problem solving
o formalization of the solution to the selected problem by the method used
• Description of the software implementation
• Demonstration of work and results obtained
• Plan of experiments and analysis of results
• Conclusion

REQUIREMENTS TO THE REPORT FORMATTING

o Page format: A4 (21 cm x 29.7 cm). Page layout: Top – 3 cm, Bottom – 3 cm, Left – 3 cm, Right – 3 cm.
o Times New Roman 12, Line spacing – 1.5 lines, Align Justify, Indentation – 1 cm.
o The pages should be numerated. The first page shouldn’t be numerated.
