 HYDRAULICS LAB
The Hydraulics Lab is equipped w ith Pelton Turbine,
Francis Turbine, Orifice and Mouth piece apparatus,
Notch apparatus, Pipe Friction apparatus, Impact of Jet
apparatus, Ventury Meter and Orifice Meter apparatus,
Metacentric Height of Ship apparatus etc.
In order to provide a real w orld experience to
the students w ith the experiments on Pelton and
Francis Turbine w e have installed the turbines in the
conventional w ay instead of purchasing test rigs.
HEAT ENGINES LAB
The Lab is w ell equipped w ith most modern testing
equipments w hich include Refrigeration and Air-
conditioning test rigs, Petrol Engines w ith single
cylinder and four cylinder engines, Diesel Engines w ith
single cylinder and tw in cylinders, Gas Calorimeter,
Flash and Fire Point Apparatus, Viscosity Testing
Apparatus, Air Compressor Test Rig etc.

GEO-TECH LAB
SSET has a w ell equipped Geotechnical Engineering
Lab for the Civil Engineering students. The equipments
include Permeability Apparatus, Consolidation
Apparatus, Direct Shear Apparatus, Laboratory Vane
Shear Apparatus, Unconfined Compression Testing
machine, Atterberg Limit Apparatus, Compaction Test
apparatus, Sieve Shaker etc. for testing different soil
properties.
The Lab w ill enable the students to have a very clear
understanding of the practical applications of the
concepts they have learned in theory classes.

SURVEY LAB
In order to expose the students to the latest technology
in surveying w e have purchased a TOTAL STATION.
In addition to this, the survey lab is also equipped w ith
sufficient number of Theodolites, Levelling instruments,
Plane tables, chains etc.
WORKSHOP
The Workshop has facilities for Smithy,
Carpentry, Foundry and basic Electrical w ork.
The Workshop is also equipped w ith Lathes,
Drilling Machines, Round Saw etc. for providing
hands-on experience to students.
FMS - Unique to SSET
Flexible Manufacturing System, a sophisticated group
of processing w orkstation, is new ly procured for our
Mechanical Engineering Department. The system is
fully automatic, computer-aided and Robotic enabled.

MACHINE SHOP
The Lab is equipped w ith all modern machines
including a CNC trainer lathe, AH Geared Lathe (20
Nos.), Shaping Machines, Milling Machines, Surface
Grinders, Slotting Machines, Drilling Machines etc. w ith
different attachments to meet the training requirement
of the students as per the revised curriculum.
AUTOMOBILE WORKSHOP
SSET has one of the finest automobile w orkshops
among all engineering colleges in Kerala. All the
machines are branded quality products. Major
items include a Tw o Post Car Lift, Vertical Boring
Machine, Resleeving Sleeving Press, Valve Seat
Cutting Machine, Computerised Wheel Alignment
Machine, Wheel Balancer, Pneumatic Tyre Changer,
Armature Testing Machine, etc. Nearly a dozen
automobiles of different make also are available for
study purpose.

A full-fledged Electrical Lab w ith DC series motor, DC
shunt motor, DC Compound motor, Motor Generator
set, Slip ring Induction Motor, Transformers, Auto
Transformer, Squirrel Cage Induction Motor, Universal
Motor, Single Phase Induction Motor etc., has been set
up for conducting experiments.
ELECTRONICS LAB
The Electronics Department is facilitated w ith many
Labs such as Devices and Circuits lab, Microprocessor
Systems Lab and Microw ave Lab.
Each lab is equipped w ith advanced and state-of-the-art
equipments like Colour Digital Storage Oscillo scopes,
Microw ave Test Benches, Satellite Communication
Systems etc. from reputed manufacturers.

Besides, the layout of our labs are w ell designed
to provide adequate space and convenience to the
students. Each lab is equipped w ith sufficient number
of instruments w ell enough to accommodate 2 students
per group for doing an experiment, so that our students
get the best exposure and confidence.
COMPUTER LAB
A modern Computer Lab w ith 861 terminals on a
LAN w ith all necessary peripherals and INTERNET
connectivity is set up for the use of the students. All
the computer systems are high-end machines w ith i3/
i5 processors. The Computer Lab is also equipped w ith
latest licensed softw are like MS Office, Window s NT,
Adobe Indesign, Oracle, Visual Studio, SPSS, Publisher
3 etc. in addition to various softw are for engineering
applications.

LIBRARY
The Library has over 35,071 latest books
on all relevant engineering and technology
subjects. The library also subscribes to a
large number of national and international
technical journals on engineering and
technology. The Library is kept open
from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on all w orking days
so as to enable the students to make full
use of the facility.

HOSTEL
Separate hostels for men and w omen
are available on campus. The Men's
Hostels can accommodate 475 students
and the Ladies' Hostel has a capacity to
accommodate 350 students. There is a
separate hostel for first year men students
at the campus itself.

MULTIMEDIA DIVISION
The SSET has the rare distinction
of having established a full-fledged
captive Multimedia Programme and
Course Content Development Division
for developing superior educational
programmes. Multimedia educational
content makes education comprehensible
and clear. This Division has the facility
to edit and compose video and audio.
It also offers crash courses on 2D and
3D animation softw are for students. All
modern teaching aids like OHP, LCD
projectors, Slide projectors, P A. systems
etc. are available at the College.

 ELIGIBILITY
B.Tech programmes are of 4 year duration and are
approved by AICTE and affiliated to Kerala Technological University.

ELIGIBILITY NRI CANDIDATES

In order to become eligible for admission to B.Tech
degree programme a candidate should have
i. 60% marks in the aggregate for Maths, Physics
and Chemistry group and a minimum of 50%
separately for Maths in the qualifying examination.
ii. A valid rank in the Kerala State Engineering
Entrance Test.
For NRI Candidates Entrance examination is not
compulsory, though w elcome, for admission in the
seats earmarked for NRI candidates. Here again merit
is the basic criterion for admission.
FEE FOR THE PROGRAMME
As specified in the Agreement w ith the Government
of Kerala or as prescribed by the Fee Regulatory
Committee. There is no capitation for admission at
SCMS Group for any programme.

 GENERAL
INSTRUCTIONS
MANUAL OF POLICIES
A document detailing the conduct of course, academic
w ork, discipline, rules for availing leave etc. w ill be
made available to the students w ithin fifteen days from
the commencement of first year classes.
DISCIPLINE
Strict discipline is enforced right from day one at the
College campus. Any manner of indiscipline w ill not
be tolerated as it is the very opposite of the ideals for
w hich the institution stands committed. Parents should
actively co-operate w ith the management to avoid
taking any heart-burning decision by the management
for indisciplined behaviour. Our Campus is declared
as a 'NON SMOKING CAMPUS'. Any student w ho
violates this rule w ill have to pay a fine of Rs.100/ - in
the first instance and Rs. 250/ - on repeating the offence.
Thereafter suitable disciplinary action w ill be taken as
per rules laid dow n by the College in this respect.
CLASS TIMINGS
Class timing is from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on all days
except first and second Saturdays and Sundays for first
year students. List of other holidays w ill be displayed
on the College Notice Board at the beginning of each
calendar year.
Students can be in the Campus on all w orking days
upto 8.00 p.m. to make use of library and computer
facilities or to carry out group assignments.
ATTENDANCE
University regulations in the matter of attendance w ill
be strictly enforced. The students should co-operate

w ith the College authorities in the matter and in all
other activities aimed at their w elfare. No relaxation or
concession w ill be extended by the management.
EVALUATION SYSTEM
Apart from the end term university examinations, w e
follow a system of continuous evaluation for assessment
of student performance. Weightage is given for internal
assessment based on attendance, class participation,
assignments, w orkshop and lab w ork, conduct on
campus, punctuality, utilisation of library and computer
centre etc.
DRESS CODE
As part of the total discipline at the campus, dress code
has been prescribed for all students. Cream colour shirts,
black pants, black belt and black shoes for boys and
cream top and black bottom are prescribed for girls in B
Tech. All students should w ear the prescribed uniform
w ithin a fortnight from the day of commencement of
the programme. After this date, students w ho are not in
the prescribed uniform and are not properly groomed
in their appearance w ill not be permitted to sit in the
class.

parents have a very active role to play. They should
alw ays be in touch w ith the faculty and management of
