DR.PRADEEP P. THEVANNOOR
(1968 - 2014)

Dr. Pradeep P. Thevannoor, the late Vice Chairman of SCMS Group, was a great visionary and a
source of inspiration for all of us at SCMS Group. He worked relentlessly to take SCMS to great
heights in quality and excellence. A man of fertile imagination and untiring energy, he was in a hurry
to accomplish his pet projects. SCMS School of Engineering & Technology was closest to his heart.
He was also the guiding force and inspiration behind SCMS School of Architecture, SCMS Water
Institute, SCMS Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology Research and Development; and projects
like the now-famous Neera, biofuel from coconut oil, the anti-diabetic tea powder ‘Stevia Tea’ and
a host of other ventures. The research & development of these products were inspired and initiated
by him. He travelled widely, to spread the wings of SCMS around the globe, however, his unfinished
mission was the establishment of academic institutions in London and Bangalore. He passed away in a
car accident when he was on his way to Bangalore, for a project evaluation on 17.11.2014. True to his
nature, he lived for SCMS and died for it.

SCMS College of Polytechnics is the first Educational Institution
in Kerala to have Quality Circles. There are 71 Quality Circles

 Eligibility
Three-year Diploma
• The candidate should satisfy all eligibility requirements
mentioned in the DTE prospectus for the academic year
2020-21.
• The candidate should have passed SSLC/THSLC or
equivalent examination, with eligibility for higher studies.
• Candidates who have passed qualifying examination with
Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English subjects are
eligible to apply.
• For CBSE / ICSE candidates, the Marks / Grades obtained
in Science is considered for calculating grade in Science,
in the place of Physics and Chemistry. In the case of
CBSE candidates, Mathematics should be “Standard
Mathematics” and only the certificates of Board
Examination shall be accepted as qualifying certificate
and such candidates shall submit an Undertaking at
the time of admission and a copy of the same shall be
submitted along with the Application.
Two-year Lateral Entry Diploma
The candidate should satisfy all eligibility requirements
mentioned in the DTE prospectus for the academic year
2020-21.
Minimum Eligibility: +2/VHSE candidates: Pass in
+2/equivalent examination/VHSE with Mathematics,
English, Physics and Chemistry and 50% in Physics,
Chemistry and Mathematics combined.
NCVT/SCVT/KGCE candidates: Pass with 50%
aggregate marks in 2 year metric courses of NCVT/SCVT/
KGCE. Candidates will be considered for admission only
to the related diploma programme as per the list of ITI/ /
KGCE trade and related diploma programmes

• True copies (Self attested) of Mark Sheet of SSLC/
HSE / CBSE / ICSE / ITI or equivalent examination.
• The original certificates should be presented to
the Principal at the time of admission. They will
be returned to the students only after verifications.
Students are requested to keep sufficient number of
attested copies of certificates for their use till such
time.

Selection Process
Selection is purely based on merit. Selection for interview for admission will
be on the basis of marks and information furnished in the application form. So
the candidates are advised to be careful while filling the application form.
Curriculum and duration
• The curriculum will comprise of the courses as prescribed by the Board of
Technical Education, Kerala.
• All the Regular Diploma Programmes are of 6 semester duration,
spanning a period of 3 years.
Class Timings
Class timings are from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm on all days except second and fourth
Saturdays and Sundays for first year students. List of other holidays will be
displayed on the College Notice Board at the beginning of each calendar year.
Attendance
Rules given by the Board of Technical Education in the matter of attendance
will be strictly enforced. The students should co-operate with the college
authorities in the matter and in all other activities aimed at their welfare.
No relaxation or concession will be extended by the Management.
UNIFORM
All students should wear the prescribed uniform within a fortnight from the
day of commencement of classes. After this date, students who are not in the
prescribed uniform and are not properly groomed in their appearance, will not
be permitted to sit in the class.
Evaluation
Apart from the end semester examinations, we follow a system of continuous
evaluation for assessment of student performance. Weightage is given for
internal assessment based on attendance, tests, class participation, assignments,
workshop and lab work, conduct on campus, punctuality, utilisation of library
and computer centre etc.
RAGGING free campus

1. Ragging / any type of misconduct towards any student, either in the college
campus or outside, will be considered as criminal offence and will be
immediately reported to the police. Perpetrators will not be permitted to
continue their studies.
2. Students and parents shall, at the time of admission, furnish an
affidavit to the effect that the students shall not indulge in ragging.
