Criteria
1.  Lay out
2. Coverage
3. Contact
4. Advertisements (pop-ups)
5. Accessibility
6. Hangover checkmark
Layout/attractiveness: We are going to judge the layout by means of originality, colors and
instructiveness. When using/visiting a website, layout is a very crucial aspect. It is the first thing that
you see when opening a website! Some websites feel like a fraud, while they are legitimate, ready to
use websites. This is of course a very subjective topic. Some people care less on how a website
looks, or are not critical when it comes to trustworthiness, so we are going to try staying objective
here!
Coverage: when you click on something specific on a website, you expect all the info you
want. coverage includes description, pictures, availability, price etc. In short: all the necessary
information you expect.  Basically, it consists of all the details that are included with the
service/product/information that you are looking for.
Contact: It is very important to easily see whether the website has a point of contact. Usually it is
stated at the bottom of the website, together with the location and bio. So, when a website has this
attachment or a contact page with all the necessary information it will pass our contact criteria!
Advertisements When opening a website, being drowned with advertisements is the least thing
you want to happen. It also makes a website feel like a fraud in our opinion. When at first it pops-up
the cookies, that is completely normal, but after you have to click away more than 4
advertisements, it just makes your visit to that website so much less efficient. So, we have decided to
set our advertisements to a maximum of 4 to pass this criterion.
Accessibility: The most important part concerning accessibility is the fact that the site needs to be
available in multiple languages. Not every country has one official language, so it needs to be
accessible for multiple languages as well. So the more languages available, the better and the more
accessible!
Functionality/hangover check: As our last and final criteria we have come to the conclusion, that
often when you have a hangover, using certain websites can make your headache much harder!
When you are using MS teams with a hangover for example, it is mildly infuriating to say the least.
This is just our last and final box to check when analyzing a website on being user-friendly. When a
website is easy to use, you know where to click, and it is easy to navigate, you will not struggle
with this criterion. But from personal experience, we found this criterion to be original, but very
useful!

1. Archonia
Archonia is a Belgian company located in Diepenbeek which is the biggest comics shop for people in
Europe who are interested in comics and manga from the United States of America. (Archonia, 2020) This
is a B2C company which focuses on the sale of action figures and statues, board games and card games
but also manga, anima, pop culture and comics as their central product. The site is already 15 years
old and is available in 5 languages.

The first criteria we will evaluate is the lay-out. The first thing you notice is that the website has a very
outdated look. You immediately notice the old font style and the blue color of hyperlinks. This indicates
that the website has not been updated a lot since it launched 15 years ago in 2005.  On the homepage
you instantly see pictures of what they are offering and while this is good, the lay-out could be
improved because the design of the pictures are pretty basic. Perhaps they can adjust the edges to a more
2020-like look, this will definitely increase attractiveness and increase sales as
well. Conclusion: Archonia can definitely improve this criterion to create a more attractive layout.
As far as coverage is concerned Archonia does a pretty decent job. When you click on a random item that
is visible on the homepage, you get redirected to all the information concerning the item. You see the
price, the time it will be available, whether it is still available or not. It is definitely positive that you get a
short description about the product and detailed information concerning the language, publisher etc. The
button where you must click to buy the item is highlighted so this is definitely a pass for Archonia for the
coverage criteria.

Archonia doesn’t pass for the contact criteria. Contact information is nowhere to be found on the main
page so you have no idea about their address, phone number, E-mail address etc. As a customer or visitor
in general, this is very important because you have no idea how to contact them if you have a question
concerning the products. In the upper right corner of the homepage, there is a small hyperlink which gets
you redirected to their contact page but the only information you will see is their fax number and postal
address. Their phone number is crossed out, so this doesn’t give an appealing view as well. However, you
can send a message to the Archonia Helpdesk but again, this part of their website is very outdated judging
by the look and other layout of their website.

Since this is a B2C site, it is very unlikely that advertisements of competitors will pop up. The only
advertisements that you see are these of Archonia itself. When you open the site, you only get a
notification to approve cookies and that’s it. What Archonia could do to increase their sales is to create a
notification about their deal of the day or something else because when you visit their site, you want to
find the best deal and since a deal of the day is limited to one day, it is useful that you get a notification.
Archonia grants you the opportunity to visit the site in 5 languages: English, Dutch, French, Spanish and
German. While this is a positive aspect this is negative for Archonia because they are the biggest
comics and manga shop that deliver in every European country. This means that they can improve this
criterion by adding more languages to their website.

The final criteria is the functionality/hangover check and we must admit that it can be confusing
sometimes. Every product category can be accessed from the main page. For example: you click on action
figures and statues but then you need to choose between pre-orders, top sellers etc. Imagine you only
want to see action figures there is no way you can do that because you either need to select a category
within action figures or you choose to see action figures mixed with statues. In terms of
functionality Archonia can optimize this criterion a lot.
2. DL-Chemicals
DL Chemicals is a Belgian company specialized in the manufacture of Sealants and is located
in Wielsbieke, West-Flanders. (DL Chemicals, 2020) They also have warehouses and factories in
Eastern Europe and have international partnerships and clients across the world but mainly
Europe. Their international character will be emphasized when evaluating their website. This means
that their B2B website must be available in multiple languages etc.

When you compare the look and lay-out of the site of DL-chemicals with Archonia, you immediately
see a huge difference. The site of DL Chemicals has a modern look thanks to their text effects and
typography but also the way they work with pictures. Their style is definitely superior when you
compare it with Archonia .When you put your mouse somewhere on a button without clicking you
see that the font and font color changes, this is a feature that is very appealing in 2020.
Conclusion: DL Chemicals definitely passes this criterion.

As a business, you want to see which products the site offers, and you want to know as much about
them as possible. On the homepage you can access a green bar where you can click on the products
and items you are looking for, they are even categorized for you as well.  For example, you click on
adhesives and you can already choose between multiple options, I chose for PU adhesive foam
and you get every product in that category. If you click on a random product within that line, you see
the characteristics, applications and certificates and you can even download technical and safety
data. In short: you get every information you need as a company interested in buying the
product. Conclusion: DL Chemicals exceeds Archonia again in terms of coverage and definitely
passes this criterion.

Contact information is extremely important for B2B and this can be accessed on the bottom of the
website. Then you get redirected to the page that gives you the address of the head office,
production etc. but also the VAT, telephone, and fax numbers. As a company, you can also leave a
message and choose to subscribe for the newsletter. Also, you can easily find all the contact
information you need when you click on a specific product. In short, as a B2B company,
you can reach the company immediately without having to look for a long time on the website, so
they pass this criterion.

Just like Archonia, It would be odd if advertisements of other companies would appear on the

website of DL Chemicals so in short, we can say that they pass this criterion because you are not
overflown with advertisements. Furthermore, you even don’t get a notification for cookies etc so this
is an ideal example of a good site in terms of advertisements. You only get to see what you want to
see so DL Chemicals definitely passes this criterion.

As you know, DL Chemicals is a company with clients all over the world so this means that the site
must be available in multiple languages to pass our accessibility criterion. They definitely pass this
part of the criteria because their site is available in 9 languages.  English, Dutch, German, French,
Turkish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish and Russian. However, these languages are all European so it
can definitely be improved but in general DL Chemicals passes the criterion and has a lot more
language choices than Archonia.

DL Chemicals passes the functionality criterion thanks to their user-friendly navigation pane, different

product categories and convenient search function. The only aspect that might be seen as negative is
that it might get too detailed at one point but this can be seen as an advantage if you are looking at
something specific but we are convinced that for a B2B site DL Chemicals passes the criterion.

3. Lunch Garden
Lunch Garden is a Belgian self-service restaurant chain. The chain has 75 restaurants in the country,
most of which are historically backed by Carrefour stores and is only is only active in Belgium. (Lunch
Garden, 2020) This is a B2C company, so we expect to find everything the customer needs to know
about their products and contacts on their website.

Lunch Garden can improve layout and increase attractiveness because when you open the website
you only see one huge picture that doesn’t give you much info about the company. If
you scroll down, you get to see what they are offering for food and the style of the pictures has an
average modern and scores better than the B2C site Archonia for instance. Conclusion: Lunch
Garden passes the criteria with the narrowest of margins.

In terms of coverage lunch gardens does an average job just like their layout because it can definitely
be more detailed. You get to see what they offer but that’s it. You can’t click on a product to know
more about proteins, carbohydrates, fats, etc. and most importantly: prices! So, it is very easy
to conclude that Lunch Garden doesn’t pass this criterion because the site doesn’t cover the
information we want to know.

For a B2C company, customers need easy access to all the contact information they need. DL
Chemicals was a good example to pass this criterion and lunch Garden does a pretty good job as well.
Via the navigation pane you can click on restaurants and then you can look for the restaurant you
want to know more about. For example, when you search Lunch Garden Meir, you find their address,
phone number, opening hours but also their available services, whether they offer take-away etc. To
conclude: Lunch Garden passes this criterion since we can easily find all the information we need.
Just like Archonia, you don’t get advertisements from other companies or competitors, the only
notification you get is a cookies request to approve. Furthermore, they don’t ask you to create an
account or ask you about your location etc. So again, just like the other 2 sites, Lunch Garden
passes this criterion easily because you don’t get overcrowded by advertisements from other sites or
Lunch Garden itself.

Sadly, lunch garden doesn’t pass our accessibility criterion since the website is only available in Dutch
and French. This should not be the case since Belgium has 3 official languages. We suggest they add
German but also English because tourists who do not speak French, Dutch or German will choose to
use English in most cases when visiting their website.

Our hangover/functionality check proves that lunch garden is not very convenient to use because
when you are looking for something specific, you can’t use a search function because there isn’t
one. Furthermore, there is no bar in which you can find all categories of the website, so you need to
click in the upper left corner to find everything available on the website. For example, when you just
want to check the menu, you need multiple clicks in order to get there fast. The same applies for
when you are looking for restaurants on their site, you can’t do it in one click but you need to search
some time before you find where you are looking for so in short, Lunch garden definitely needs to
improve their functionality and user-friendliness because they don’t pass our criterion.

4. Yamaha
Yamaha is the manufacturer of motorcycles and music instruments from Japanese. There are many
dealers spread across the whole world, and is one of the biggest manufacturers in both motorcycles
and music instruments!  What is strange about this situation in my personal opinion, is
when we searched for “it.yamaha.com” , we arrived on their Italian music instrument department,
and when we searched “www.yamaha.be” we were send to their Belgium motorcycle
department. From personal experience I know that the motorcycle brand is not praised on a level it is
in Belgium compared to their Italian variants. But more over the website from Italy.
As far as layout is concerned, we really have no complaints. In a glance of an eye you can see what
they are about. Even more important when navigating through the website, it feels like an
application from your smartphone. All the navigation buttons are big squares, the colors are the
unique purple from Yamaha’s instruments, it feels familiar and very user friendly. The only real
remark that I have, and we can illustrate it perfectly with
this picture:

com.yamaha.it  – home page – about Yamaha 1
Can you see it? The “About Yamaha” hyperlink is purple, al the colors on this website are
purple which makes it very hard to

see!
com.yamaha.it – home page  – about Yamaha 2
When we look at the coverage of this particular website, it is endless. It goes from products
to support, all the way to artists and events. When hovering your mouse indicator over the different
areas (as illustrated in the picture above) it will show you all the different categories to navigate
through without the burden of having to click multiple times. But, there is a but, when selecting a
certain topic, or product or item, they drown you with information. At first for someone who let’s say
is getting into playing music, it can be too much to navigate through. It feels like a website for a
dealer to gain deeper insight of a product, to then convince the client. Of-course, when you possess
all the knowledge needed, you will not encounter any problems what-so-ever on this website!
For the next criteria, it is possible to place it in two sentences. There are no advertisements,
nonexistent on this website. This is the year 2020 where marketing and advertisements are being
pushed 24/7, so it makes us really proud to say there are still website that do not bother you with
unnecessary advertisements.

The accessibility from this website can be confusing, one one hand when you visit this website to buy
products, you will not find any. You will have to go through the “Dealers” tab, there you can select
the closest dealer to your location to find what you need. While on the other hand you can make full
use of this website without the need for an account. It will also not ask you to make one, which is a
relief on its own.

When looking at the user friendliness of this website, that depends if you just want information, or
you want to buy something. This particular website is more for information and news, easy to
navigate through, nice smooth-running website with cool animations, no pop-up advertisements and
perhaps important for when you have a hangover, soft colors. This website is hangover approved!

5. Casabath
Casabath is a manufacturer of Italian bathroom furniture and design. Their products are highly priced
with outstanding quality! Personally, I have worked with their products for three years, and I can
guarantee you that you do get value for your money. The biggest dealer from Flanders, if not Belgium
is Versani, who will be your point of contact if you are a consumer. Their website is actually
comparable to the Yamaha website we have described before, you cannot buy products on here, but
everything from product descriptions, events and more are available to you.

The first impression from this website screams “Exclusive” which it is. Their image, product quality
and pricing are all synchronized with each other. What actually surprised us is that the colors they
use for their products, are also the ones they use for their website. The oak brown and monolith
white are part of their image, they stay true to their image together with their character. There are
tabs where then you can find hyperlinks to different areas on their website, they speak for their own
and do not need any explanation.

We do believe that this web page covers everything there is to know about Casabath, their heritage,
mission, products, materials, events and a lot more. Their whole product line is also available to you
with stunning pictures which you can then use to acquire your product at Versani. It seems to us that
the big picture you see in the beginning of the web page is there for a reason. Who is looking for
something specific, will see the tabs in the glance of an eye, which leads to a short visit on the web
page with together with a smooth experience. Who is just their to read what’s new, will scroll down
from the picture and find miscellaneous articles about Casabath.

On the right side of the page you can see where they are active, to how you can contact them. It
is admirable to see how active they are on social media. There are over 51 ways to contact/find
them, which is stunning. When clicking on the separate “Contact” tab you will be sent to an online
formular, where you can fill in all your information together with your message. Or perhaps when it
is easier you will also find their phone number next to it.

Pop-up advertisements are again not to be found on this website, only the authorization for cookies
will be asked when entering. When you want to subscribe for their newsletter, you will also have to
navigate to the “Contacts” tab, instead of receiving a pop-up which is refreshing.

It is fair to say that it does feel perhaps a little too exclusive, and might scare some people
away. Although we believe that this won’t impact the sales that much, which I can confirm with
hands on experience with their products. You do not need an account for this website which is good.
But on the other hand, when trying to contact them directly, you have to fill in your company name
and number, which means the general public will not be able to contact them through their website,
and only through the dealer. Is that bad? Not in our opinion, it is easier to have a local supplier as a
point of contact, rather than a factory in Italy.

We came to the conclusion this website is easy to navigate through, although it does not have a
search function, which some people will find frustrating. Then we came to the question if it is really
necessary? The answer was no, there are many tabs that lead to sub tabs. We do understand that
this results in more clicks than needed perhaps, but on this particular website it is very clear where
everything is located. Opinions were different, but this does pass the hangover check!

6. Pauwels Consulting
Pauwels Consulting is a Belgian consultancy agency. Pauwels offers consultancy in energy,
government, manufacturing industry, infrastructure and construction, the pharmaceutical
industry and many more industries. They have 4 offices in Belgium: in Ghent, Brussels, Diegem and
Antwerp. They are also active in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany and France.  This company is
B2B and B2G as they sell expertise to businesses and to the government as well.

When first opening the website, you can immediately see that there is a simple layout, you’re not
being overwhelmed by information or unnecessary things. The colors of their logo are orange, grey
and white, which they implemented as their color theme on the whole site. The first thing you see is
a hyperlink to job vacancies that you can apply for.

When you look at the B2G part of this company they explain what kind of issues governments have.
Immediately after explaining the issues, Pauwels shows where they can help and solve the
issues. Below that they explain what kind of added value working with Pauwels offers you and how
they monitor and help employees. On the bottom of the page there are hyperlinks. These are a few
subjects in which they have expertise. Since this is a consultancy agency there are no prices on the
website because that depends on the size and subject of the project.

At the bottom of every page there is a box where you can fill in your email to receive interesting tips
& tricks. There are also 3 buttons which you can click on, one that leads you to
their Facebook page, their Instagram page and LinkedIn. When you click on the Facebook button you
will see their page and some info about the company, you can also see a chat box pop up. Here you
can directly message Pauwels Consulting and ask questions. In the top right corner of the website
there is a Contact tab. Here you can find the address, email and phone number of every single office
they have.

When opening the site not a single ad popped up.

This website is available in 3 different languages. In the top right corner, you will see the current
language and an arrow, if you click on the arrow a list will pop up and you can choose between
Dutch, English and French. These languages are the main languages of the countries they operate in.
Now the hangover check. This website is very user-friendly thanks to the simple but yet effective
layout and structure. You can easily find all the information you want in a few clicks. Since you’re not
being overwhelmed by information and it’s easy to navigate through the tabs and hyperlinks. This
website passes the hangover check! (Pauwels Consulting, 2020)

7. 2dehands
2dehands is a Belgian C2C website. Here you can sell and buy used goods from other people. You can
literally buy and sell almost anything, from clothing and collectibles to cars and household
goods. This website is only meant for people that live in Belgium. (2dehands, 2020)
This website could improve on layout and attractiveness. The simple layout gives me the impression
that the creators didn’t put much time and thought into it. When opening the site for the first time
you could get overwhelmed by all the products people are offering.
On the left side of the site you can click on different types of departments.
For example, if you’re looking to buy a tv, just click on department “Audio, Tv and Photo”. There you
can see what products are being offered. If you click on “In je buurt” you will see all the products of
that department that are close to your home, to do this you will have to make an account and fill in
your address. Most of the people that list goods on this website ask for a specific price, but some
people ask you to place a bid or to send a message with how much you are willing to pay for the
product.
In the top left corner of the website you can find a button called “Help en info”. Here you can find
some info about 2dehands and how the site works. There is also a button “Contacteer ons” which
leads you to a page where you email them and ask questions. At the bottom of that page you can see
a few hyperlinks which lead to their Facebook page, Twitter page, Instagram account, Pinterest,
LinkedIn and Youtube channel.

There are a lot of advertisements on 2dehands. When I opened the website an ad

of Mediamarkt popped up. Which seems weird to me because a lot of the products you find on
2dehands are also being sold in Mediamarkt. There is an ad on every single page of this website.
For example if you’re looking for books and you click on “Boeken”, 2 ads pop up.
This website is only available in Dutch in French as these are the most spoken languages in
Belgium. Therefore, this website doesn’t meet our accessibility criteria.

If you have a hangover, I wouldn’t recommend using this website. You would really get a headache
from using this website because of all the products and information. It is an easy to use website but
the amount of different products could drive you crazy. This website did not pass the hangover
check.

9. GSA Advantage
U.S. General Service Administration is an example of a B2G. This website provides information
about goods and services that federal offices need to accomplish their tasks. It has more than 20
categories including all their products and services. These categories include a wide range from
construction tools to technology solutions to cars and boats. On this website small businesses can
see how to become a supplier and what price expectations do the federal offices have.

1. Lay out – to catch the eye

The lay-out of the website is very well groomed. The first feature that brought my attention
was the pinned home bar at the top of the page. Furthermore, the first page is not too
busy, and you can easily access anything you are interested about in a click.

2. Coverage – all necessary info
There is no hidden information. Everything can be found in maximum 3 clicks. The categories
are well displayed twice on the homepage so that you can find it faster.

3. Contact – page
In the top bar there is the button “HELP” that immediately opens a page with additional
information including FAQs and possible problems with your account. At the bottom of this
page you will find “Contact Us”. This section includes customer service information (e-mail
and phone number) and contractors and global suppliers’ contact info.

4. Advertisements (pop-ups) – max 4 ads
I have not come across any advertisements or cookies. I believe that the reasoning behind
this is that this is a federal website, and its purpose is not to advertise other products but to
offer information.

5. Accessibility – multiple languages
This website does not have multiple languages. The main reason is because it is a website for
the federal office in the United States, where English is the official language. Because the
website is not destined for persons other than Americans, it is not in another languages.

6. Hangover checkmark – user friendly
This website passes the hangover check as it is very user-friendly. When you are looking for a
certain piece of information you will definitely find it, as you can use the key-word search
engine or their list of categories and services.

10. GOV.UK
GOV.UK is the official website of the UK Government. This is a good example of a G2G because they
recently merged all departments, agencies, and public bodies into one efficient website. Here you
can find information related to benefits, births, deaths, business or self-employed, childcare,
citizenship, crime and justice, education, transport, environment, housing, taxes, passport and living
abroad, visas, etc.
1. Lay out – to catch the eye
The lay-out is well distributed on the web pages of the website. The menu is directly on the page,
in the second section. This makes navigating easier because readers can spot the keywords of
what they are searching for faster. This menu is composed of 16 elements that have a short
description underneath each key words.
2. Coverage – all necessary info
In terms of coverage, the website covers all important information related to the UK
Government. 23 ministerial departments and 413 other agencies and public bodies can be found
with just a click, as it redirects you to complete lists with other Government associated websites
they work with.
3. Contact – page
There is not one contact page of the whole website as it covers many different and important
topics across the country. However, you have contact information for every department included
on the website. This means that if you search “key word + contact” you will find what you need
to know to contact that department.
4. Advertisements (pop-ups) – max 4 ads
Because this an official website, the purpose of adds is irrelevant. Any form of distraction of the
reader is not present. However, the website uses cookies. The message appears at the top of the
page, but readers can still navigate without giving their consent. The window takes about 1/3 of
the webpage, but it is not floating, this means that you can continue reading without noticing
it. You can either set cookies preferences or accept all cookies. If you accept all cookies, a
message will be displayed that you can make changes at any time (you can then hide it), but if
you choose to set your preferences it redirect you to a dedicated page where you can save your
changes.
5. Accessibility – multiple languages
GOV.UK is the official website for the UK Government, this implies that the language is English,
the official language of UK. Because English is one of the most known languages of the world, the
website is not available in other languages, as they are considered a minority.
6. Hangover checkmark – user friendly
Because of the multitude of information on this website, I believe that you need to pay attention
whether what you search responds to your specific question. There may be information related
to your searching, but the right answer. Considering this, the website is user friendly in terms of
how many clicks you need to find what you are looking for.

11. Vlaio (Vlaams Agentschap Innovatie en

Ondernemen)
Vlaio is a government institution which is responsible for supporting all Flemish
companies. Vlaio offers free advice and also arranges the support money for companies which are
in trouble due to the corona crisis and decides whether innovative companies can receive a subsidy.
The design of the website is not special. The user interface is not ideal for sure. However, the user
experience is okay. There is a clear call-to-action on top of the page which invites the visitor to have a
look at the list of corona measures for companies. The most important buttons are easy to find, but
there are articles and blogpost everywhere, which makes it unstructured.

The coverage of the website is very good, all important information is given. In case that a visitor
would have any more questions, he can call them. Their number is written in big on top of the site.
Contact information is very easy to find. A WhatsApp number can be found on top of the page. In the
far right there is a contact us button which offers the possibility to send an email or call via
WhatsApp.

There are no advertisements on this website. This is because ads are put on websites for commercial
reasons, and this is not a commercial website. This website runs on governement money, not on
income from online ads.

This website doesn’t meet our accessibility criteria. It is only available in Dutch and English, but in the
English version, the menu bar is still in Dutch.
The headings ‘Deze ondernemers deden het al’, ‘Vlaio tips’, ‘events’ and ‘nieuws’ all have similar
content, this reduces the functionality of the website. However, there is a clear call-to-action and the
contact information is easy to find. The functionality is not terribly bad, but not ideal and so it does
not pass our criteria.

12. Info coronavirus
Info Coronavirus is a website from the Belgian government. The purpose of this site is to inform
people about the current corona measures. Besides information for the whole population, there is
also specific information for professionals in the health sector.

This website has a very basic design. Every nice feature that could have been added, was left out.
However, the user experience is very good, and possibly even improved by the simple design.
The information is complete and very easy to find, so the coverage of this website is very good. All
headings and subheadings are immediately visible, without having to click on a menu bar.

Concerning the contact information, this is a bit more complicated than most other cases. This site
does have a contact button, but when you click on that button, you see that the organization behind
this site cannot be contacted. However, it does give a list of contact information of its partners. The
listed contact information of partners is not clear enough. They do mention telephone numbers, but
no email addresses. Since this website does not have the possibility to contact
the organization who is running the website, it does not pass our criteria.

Like the previous website, this site does not have any advertisements. This is because government
websites are maintained with government money, not with income from online ads.

The accessibility of this website is very good. It exists in Dutch, French, English, and German. Dutch,
French and German are all the official languages in Belgium and English is a language that a large
majority of foreigners can understand.
The functionality of this website is very good. Finding information is easy and the information itself is
very clear.

13. Upwork
Upwork is a remote work platform on which everybody can offer his or her services to companies. To
make Upwork trustworthy for businesses, businesses can rate the people who worked for them. By
this way other businesses can hire people based on their rating. Upwork is mainly used for
hiring web, app end software developers, designers, authors, marketeers, salespeople, admin
support, customer service, data science and analytics, engineering and architecture. Besides these
main categories, one can also find legal advice, accounting services and so much more.

The website has a very good looking design, which is crucial for a company offering web
development services. Both the user experience and user interface are very good. The
site doesn’t have a lot of special effects, but this does not bother thanks to the clear design.

All information can be found easily. In the homepage picture there is a button ‘Watch demo’ by
viewing this demo people will get all necessary information. When you scroll down you immediately
see the main sectors in which Upwork operates. A bit lower you can find the ‘How it works’
paragraph in which people can get to know the whole process of working via Upwork. Below that
they mention the price packets and several interesting case studies.

Contact information is very easy to find. In the ‘Contact us’ page they mention the adresses of their
three offices. Furthermore they offer the possibility to get in touch with their customer support, to
discuss enterprise solutions, ask for press inquiries or partner up with them. Contacting the
freelancers on Upwork is also very easy, since you can send a message via the website.

This website does not have advertisements.

Upwork is only available in English, which is not very good because the website is used in 180
countries. It might be better if they add more languages, especially languages of countries with a low
rate of English proficiency.

This website can definitely be used when you have a hangover. The clear structure and simple design
guide you to find the wished information right away. The white and light grey background gives you a
calm feeling and helps you to focus on the important content of the website, guiding to to find what
you search for.

The best site in terms of Lay out is Upwork, because it has a very clean, organized, and
beautiful design. To make it appealing to its visitors, transparent PNG pictures have been added and
the house style of the brand, the color green, is represented in all aspects of the site. There is no
doubt that this website has the best user interface.
The Best site in terms of Coverage is GOV.UK because they recently merged all
different ministerial departments and other 413 agencies and public bodies into one list that can be
found on this website, one click away from the home page.

The best site in terms of Contact is Casabath because, There is a formular you can fill in where they
contact you, you can send an e-mail and finally they even have their phone number from the HQ
(main plant) published online.

The best sites in terms of Advertisements are both The White House and GSA Advantage. Both
are B2G and C2G websites. This means that information about political and economic issues is the
most important. Both sites do not have pop-up ads or any type of advertisements. This is the
case because they are official websites with genuine information from the Government.
The intention is not to attract customers, but let readers focus on their search.

The best site in terms of Accessibility is DL Chemicals because this is the only website of the 12

websites which we compared that is available in 9 languages. These languages are English, Dutch,
German, French, Turkish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish and Russian. That is why DL Chemicals gets a 10
in our accessibility criteria. Other sites like GSA Advantage and Upwork are only available in one
language: English. This might be seen as a universal language, but it doesn’t provide any comfort to
people who prefer their native language which can be Dutch or French. DL Chemicals is aware of this
common mistake so that is why they made their website accessible and available in 9 different
languages.

The Best site in terms of our hangover/functionality check is Info Coronavirus because it has the

most simple and basic design. This basic design is very organized, which makes it very clear where to
find the wanted information.

In general, we can conclude that the best site is DL Chemicals because it is not only the best site in
terms of accessibility but also the best site in general. We can prove this by comparing the overall
scores of each website and you will notice that DL Chemicals has the highest score of 8.5/10.  Thanks
to its modern look, extremely detailed product description, sufficient contact information, user-
friendly navigation pane and convenient search function it easily deserves the title of ultimate
website in our research. Also, the fact that there are few to no advertisements on this site make it an
example for many B2C companies and website designers in general.

Reflection (everybody)
Roberta Constantin
This assignment, along with the Websites 1 assignment, have given me the opportunity to develop
my electronical skills in terms of research, critical analysis, and personal feedback. In my opinion, the
research needed to start working on the project was very useful. I realized how different, yet similar
many websites are by comparing them and trying to find the best fit. This means that, although they
keep the same key elements, the structure and lay-out differentiates them enormously.
The team collaboration was the main factor that put this assignment together. I am happy with the
way everyone worked on their individual tasks, but also how the team meetings brought value to
the report as a whole. In the end, I would change only one thing, the moments for checking-in on the
progress of each team member. I believe they play a major role in keeping a good flow of work
and productivity within the team.
Devy Callens
At first, I was very enthusiastic to start working on this assignment because I like to use my critical
thinking abilities. I like to analyze content with a critical approach, so I was delighted to start working
on this task with my group members. In general, I am happy with how we, as a group, completed
the assignment. We divided the tasks in advance and gave everyone enough time to complete their
part. The only thing that I would do different next time is to have a Teams meeting every week
instead of having a Teams call every two weeks because then it’s possible that some members forget
about the assignment.
Luckily, everyone respected the deadlines and thanks to this form of teamwork, I learned to
collaborate in a single word document with 5 persons and I also learned to write a general conclusion
about 12 different websites by comparing everyone’s work with my own. Furthermore, I really liked
the creative freedom we had in our criteria. This way we were able to come up with our hangover
check/functionality criteria, so it was really fun to analyze sites according to our own criteria.
Sandro Losapio
I believed this assignment was pretty useless until we started working on it. On the first glance you
do not really put any thought in why their website looks like that, if I did not like it I’d just go to
another one. But during this assignment where we needed to actually think and analyze these
websites, you come to the realization they might have so many advertisements because that is their
revenue strategy for example. So this made it pretty interesting that we were required to look at
more than just the website instead of the business combined with the website, as a whole.
Plus the fact we were able to choose our own criteria made it more interesting. Personally I get so
frustrated when I have to click away 5 pop-ups to find out that they do not have the
information/product I need, and surely not when you do not have the time for clicking them all
away.
Teamwork went great, some delays here and there which is completely normal. Everyone’s
schedule is different, motivation is pretty low, so all things considered I’m personally really satisfied
with this co-operation.
Driss El Hmoud
This assignment was pretty interesting in my opinion. I never really looked at a website this way. I
never critically thought about a website. This task made me realize what effect a ‘bad’ website can
have on you and your thoughts on the company and what you need to focus on when making
a website.  The teamwork for this assignment went well. Everyone did what he or she had to do and
before the deadlines. It was fun working together with them.
Geerard Adriaen
I believe this assignment has been very interesting. I believe it was very interesting to analyze
websites based on these criteria. Usually, we make our opinions on websites based on their design.
Now however, I noticed that some websites with a less good design have a higher total score in our
comparison than other websites which look better.
I believe this groupwork was conducted in a good and professional way by all group members. in the
beginning of this assignment, we divided all the work and, as it turned out, everybody met the
deadline and delivered a good quality of work. I am satisfied with the result that we achieved as a
group so far.
