Activity 2: Essay. Read the statement carefully and explain what it means based on what you
have understood.

Better to know a knot and not need it, than need a knot and not know it.

The significance of the capacity building and our ability to deal with different things are
properly defined in this statement. If we look at the first part of the sentence, we can clearly
conclude that when we experience a specific situation, it is easier to equip ourselves with several
instruments to deal with a specific situation, rather than looking for tools. Let me explain this one
to everyone by using an example. You are to cook in a big event together with only a plan in your
head confidently rather than practicing beforehand. Considering that you are a skilled cooker, it
doesn't mean that it will be successful. Please practice and get the taste before performing it. It is
better to prepare everything. One more thing, rather than swimming around when we are
drowning, it is much easier to learn how to swim beforehand. This argument categorically clarifies
the way we should live our lives. To improve our ability to deal with any situation effectively, we
must use all the resources at our disposal. We never know what's coming in the future for us. We
should also strive to keep ourselves open to new ideas and values. We should not believe that "oh,
I don't think I will need this skill in the future" and closes the growth gate. What if, in the future,
we experience the situation? Will we wait for something to happen to learn some skills? Will we
first encounter an accident to learn how to drive? Yeah, sure, no. Instead of looking for some
solution when we actually face the issue, we must keep ourselves ready to face any situation. It's
best to be prepared for a situation than facing a situation and have absolutely no idea what to do or
how to do, although you may not face that situation in your life.
