Problem Area: Which food delivery app is best based on your experience this
quarantine so far?

In the Philippine setting, the five most popular delivery app used by people during

the quarantine are Foodpanda, Honestbee, Lalafood, Grabfood, and Angkas. These apps

are closely similar to each other and only differ by small intervals. To know the best one

among the rest, the applications’ performance and features were compared. The following

were the chosen criteria with their definition:

Rating. This refers to the application’s ratings and reviews in various IOS and

Android application markets such as App Store and Google Play Store.

Cost. This refers to delivery fees and other subscription fees.

Scope. This refers to the area covered by the delivery and the company’s partner

restaurants and food chains.

User Interface. This refers to the ease of navigation within the application and its

aesthetic value, including its overall appearance.

Stability. This refers to the application’s run time, whether it crashes or runs

smoothly.

Popularity. This refers to the application’s number of downloads in various IOS

and Android application markets such as App Store and Google Play Store, as well as its

overall public reach.

With the defined criteria, Foodpanda was chosen as the datum or the standard

app.

Conclusion

Food delivery applications have been of great help during the quarantine,

especially for residents in municipalities and cities with strict lockdown protocols. Among

the five most popular food delivery apps, Foodpanda was chosen to be the datum based

on its ratings and reviews. Through the Pugh Matrix, each alternative application was

compared to Foodpanda based on the defined criteria. Honestbee, Lalafood, and

Grabfood had negative total scores which means these alternative apps are much worse

than the datum. Compared to Foodpanda, these apps have limited reach. On the other

hand, Angkas had a positive score of 7. From the results, it can be concluded that Angkas

is the best food delivery app in general, and especially in terms of cost, user interface,

and popularity.
