1. Define Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is defined as the ability to deliver an integrated

suite of business applications. ERP tools share a common process and data model,
covering broad and deep operational end-to-end processes, such as those found in
finance, HR, distribution, manufacturing, service and the supply chain. ERP
applications automate and support a range of administrative and operational business
processes across multiple industries, including line of business, customer-facing,
administrative and the asset management aspects of an enterprise. ERP deployments
are complex and expensive endeavors, and some organizations struggle to define the
business benefits.

2. Enumerate and explain the advantages of using ERP.

The advantages of using ERP are the following:
a. Drive standardization across the enterprise resulting in greater operational
efficiencies wherein this means that the work becomes more efficient as there
is a set standard that is followed with the ERP and not different software used
by the branches that could cause confusion.
b. Enables greater focus on strategic activities by means of the helpful interface
and navigation where you can monitor activities real time and activities are also
separated through tabs where you can focus on one strategic activity at a time.
c. Potential for rapid deployment of technology as the software is capable of
adapting to the rapid changes and developments.
d. Shared IT development costs as with the standardization of ERP across
platforms, the company only pays for one product shared by its branches.
e. Simplify IT technical footprint in which the data is organized as there is only
one software involved where troubleshooting is easier as well as the processes
of learning the program and the information available in the software can be
easily understood as well and is uniform.

• The menu bar is displayed at the top of the screen and it contains the Windows
standard menu as well as generic SAP Business One functions.
• The tool bar is displayed under the menu bar and it is a collection of icon
buttons that grant you easy access to commonly-used functions. The functions
