WHAT IS COMPUTER ENGINEERING?

The Computer Engineer is able to participate and lead the tasks that involve the different aspects
of the production, application and research of hardware and software, using and applying their
components:

• Keeping them in optimal operation according to technological advances and changes in the
organization or its environment or in the event of malfunctions.

• Determining safety, integrity and reliability guidelines, establishing technical and administrative
standards that govern its operation and exploitation.

• Selecting the deterministic and / or stochastic calculation methods that optimize the solution of
the problems that they could generate.

• Designing, integrating and / or these systems when they are embedded in electromedical,
aeronautical or space equipment, etc.

• Selecting, implementing and integrating hardware and software platforms, required by the
applications, adapting them to the existence of the market.

• Definition of computer network topologies and multi-user environments. Applying the standards
and protocols of digital data communications and networks.

• Designing and developing the necessary software components.

• Analyzing, designing and implementing them.

• Developing simulation models to predict their behavior. Planning, directing and controlling the
processes associated with its development, production and integration. Determining the needs in
terms of personnel for its manufacture, integration, maintenance and operation. Auditing them in
order to evaluate their effectiveness, efficiency and safety.

• Transferring the results of the investigation to concrete situations.

• Participating in investigations with interdisciplinary groups as well as conducting them
