The article I chose here compares the affects of test anxiety and academic procrastination
through self-efficacy. The study behind this article was based on how asking a student’s
questions and convincing them to believe in themselves more improved their anxiety. The article
used IBSR, inquiry-based stress reduction, to pinpoint the stress in the mind and get them to
reflect on where the stress stems from and the consequences that can occur. When the subject is
given an opportunity to envision a different outcome, they can think outside the box.
I chose this article because test anxiety is a very real thing that everyone in college experiences.
The pressure of performing well in every test, in every class puts a lot of pressure on the mind
and body. I see this issue with my fellow classmates and in myself on how much of our self-
efficacy has changed. My thought question would be, “What is your efficacy level at?”.

This next article that I chose, compares related factors to see the relationship between them and
test anxiety for high school and college students. The study behind this article asked what the
relationships between two different forms of perfectionism (evaluative concerns perfectionism
and personal standards perfectionism), academic hardiness, and test anxiety. The article used
SEM, structural equation modelling, to point out which students would be more likely or less
likely to experience test anxiety. With two different standards of perfectionism, there are some
behaviors that align positively or negatively depending on the academic hardiness of students,
which would impact their motivation for goals.
I chose this article because test anxiety was something that impacted me in high school, and I see
impacts my sibling who is in his senior year of high school. The anxiety would sometimes cause
me to have an avoidant behavior in order to preserve my self-esteem. I can see this in my
classmates and see in certain scenarios who are the ones who thrive under challenges and those
avoid them.
