Finishing the Cocoon:

٠ The side edge that has the ribbing (front/back post section) will be the top of the
hooded cocoon.
٠ With right side of cocoon facing you fold the two ribbing edges together (so right
sides are touching together). Whip Stitch the top edges together to form the bonnet.
Turn right side out.
٠ Along the bottom edge of the cocoon, hold so the right side of the cocoon is facing
you. Join in the first stitch on the left side and work a reverse sc (crab stitch) along
edge, fasten off and weave in ends.
٠ Fold the cocoon up so the bottom edge lines up to the beginning of the ribbing edge.
The folded “cocoon” measures approximately 15” (20”, 25”) long.
٠ With cocoon folded mark button placement. Place the center of the top button 1 ½” (1
½”, 2”) down from the ribbing edge of the bonnet, mark placement. From mark
measure down 3” (4”, 4”) down to place next marker, continue until you have marked
for all 5 (5, 6) buttons. The bottom button should measure 1 ½” (2”, 2”) from the
bottom. Unfold the cocoon and sew the buttons on. Repeat on other side of the
cocoon. Weave in all loose ends of yarn. Buttons will button through the double
crochet stitches of the edge.
