Philosophy Statement
Children have the potential to entirely reform society. Through exploration of their own
ideas and education, they hold the power to shape the world around them. Each child is
extremely unique and has incredibly different qualities than the next, which is the cause of
potential reformation of society. In order to ensure these children are prepared for the roles they
will acquire, it is key that education focuses more on the children and their own self-discovery
and educational journey. Teachers are guides for each and every student, providing them with
not only access to new information, but an environment that is supportive, caring, and
responsive. Children are naturally very curious and it is their curiosity that, in a stimulating
educational environment, will help them in reaching their full potential. It is my role, as an
educator, to create such an environment where students can feel comfortable and safe directing
as well as the environment. Through creating a respectful atmosphere where students can express
themselves to each other without fear of judgment, they will have the opportunity for continual
learning and growth. Emotional, cognitive, physical, and social growth is able to prosper when
children are presented with a curriculum that is developed to stimulate their passion as well as
cultivate intrinsic motivation. Having students set their own goals and generate ideas on how to
achieve them allows for a partnership between the student and the teacher. This motivates each
to work harder in an attempt to acquire the skills required to achieve their goal. Having the
students understand what is expected of them, appreciate their potential, and their unique
qualities, as well as providing a safe, caring, and supportive environment where a deeper
learning can take place, is my philosophy on how education can be even more effective.
