Also! I reccomend watching 「青い春」Blue Spring (2001) if you enjoyed this movie!
It's a similar style but the ending is really sad :") If anyone needs more
reccomdations of Japanese films let me know! I don't think a lot of people know
many Japanese movies that aren't shoujo live action movies lol which is sad :"D
A lot wanted more recommendations so here is a list! :
♡Blue Spring 「青い春」2001- similar concept but it's not a comedy like Postman
Blues and sad ending, it's a classic
♡ Snakes and earrings「蛇にピアス」2008- It's thriller based on a controversial
Japanese novel, the book it better but the movie is great! It's about something
considered taboo in Japan. Don't watch it if you are a kid! A lot of kids watch
movies like these so I would say at least not under 16! Or you will feel awkward
and probably a bit uncomfortable and you just won't like it
♡ A Story of Yonosuke 「横道世之介」2013- Sad-ish coming of age film but it's so so
good! I totally reccomend this if you dont like "heavier/darker" concepts like the
movies above!
♡ Your Tomorrow my Yesterday 「ぼくは明日、昨日のきみとデートする」2016?- A romance movie
that was really popular when released! Based on a great book!!
♡ A Forest of Wool and Steel 「羊と鋼の森」2018- Based on a wonderful book aswell!
It's a coming of age I would say
♡ Control Tower 「管制塔」2011- A sad-ish movies aswell, coming of age movie too! A
bit slow paced but it's really good! Actually it was inspired by a popular song
from a popular Japanese band!

♡The world of Kanako 「果てしなき渇き」it's so good! It's about a teenage girl who
disappears and her dad is trying to find her so he investigates and discovers
shocking secrets of his daughter's "double life" I love this movie! Based on a book
too!
♡All about lily chou chou (I am not sure how to exactly translate that :"/ sorry)
「くリリイシュシュのすべて」2001- It's about this boy who deals the pain of anxiety and
find comfort in music where "his lies and violence" can "disappear" when
listening/watching his "idol" it's a bit of heavy type of movie
♡ Voices of The Wind「風の電話」2020- it's such a great movie!! In Japan there was
this devastating earthquake and tsunami in 2011 and there was this thing created
called "The phone of the wind" is phone booth with the wires not connected that
people who lost someone in the tsunami could call and connect to their passed love
ones or those who went missing. You would leave your message in that phone booth to
them and the message would travel through the wind. Tbe movie is pretty much about
that, or revolves around the phone booth
♡ Yurigokoro 「ユリゴコロ」2017?- It's a mystery and drama, and it's about a man's
father who has cancer and he is going through his stuff and find a journal and it's
written by a murderer, also explores the love a father has for his son which isn't
showed much in Japan
♡Chiwawa 「チワワちゃん」2019- It's about this girl who went by ちわわちゃん who's body
was found in a lake? I think it was a lake, and her friends gather and start to
discover that they really never knew their friend,it's a great movie! Super popular
here!!
♡Children Who Want To Die/12 Suicidal Teens「 十二人の死にたい子どもたち」2019- In
Japan there is a lot of teenagers who commit suicide like it's worldwide known and
the movie pretty much explore the reasons of 12 teenagers who want to die
themselves in their own terms but it doesn't really go in depth in their
backstories which I really didn't like but it's kind of a mystery and not really
sad. But it was a popular movie!
♡Just Only Love 「愛がなんだ」It's a romance movie based on a great book and explores
how it is for many relationships of today in current Japan

♡From 5 to 9 「5 時から 9 時まで」「5 時から 9 時まで、 私に恋したお坊さん〜」It's so good! I
totally reccomend, it's a romance of course but it's manly comedic! I love this
drama, if you like kdramas watch this!
♡Mare 「まれ」it's a great coming of age series! It's so so good! It's a very long
series with over 100 episodes but I love it! If you liked A Stoy of Yonosuke watch
this!
