Cambridge International Qualifications
Scottish Qualification Authority

CIQ offers credit rated programmes under Scottish Credit Qualification Framework
(SCQF) through the credit rating agency Scottish Qualification Authority which enables
the student to attain UK regulated qualifications. Apart from the credit rated
programmes, CIQ also offers stand-alone professional diploma and certification
programmes which has been developed based on the current need of the industry. The
Scottish Qualifications Authority is the executive public body of the Scottish Government
responsible for accrediting educational awards. It is the most trusted national accreditation
and awarding body in Scotland and is also recognised by Ofqual.

Intakes
There are four intakes for the SQA PGDE qualification in a year. The programme is delivered
both online and onsite in our campus in Sharjah. The four intakes are January, April, July &
October every year.

Duration
8 months.
Entry Requirements

Candidates can be enrolled for the programme by meeting any of the following criteria:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the education field (if there is no Bachelor’s)
• Any other recognized qualifications in the field of Education

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
Applicants should have at least:
• a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or
• the highest educational qualification should be in English Language
Course Details
Module 1: Increasing Learning and
Achievement in Classrooms
The focus of this module is helping K-12
practitioners advance their expertise in the
field of teaching by expanding their
knowledge and skills in three major areas:
Knowledge of learners and learning
Knowledge of subject matter and
curriculum goals
Knowledge of effective teaching models,
strategies and practices.
Learning Outcomes
LO1 Discuss research and theory on the
process of learning in education.
LO2 Apply effective learning practices in
the classroom.
LO3 Analyze findings from neuroscience as
they relate to learning.

Module 2: Designing Curriculum,
Instruction and Assessment for
Students of Determination
In this module, practitioners will learn about
the challenges of students who have
disabilities and those who have significant
difficulty with learning but do not qualify for
special education services. Practitioners
will learn how to adapt curriculum, instruc-
tion and assessment to maximize learning
for students of determination.

teaching process.
LO3 Evaluate the role of an educational
practitioner in helping students develop

Course Details
Module 3: Teacher as a Leader
In this module, practitioners are introduced
to the teacher leadership concept and the
value it holds in the educational field. In the
wake of current educational challenges
practitioners will learn the critical
importance of expanding their knowledge of
educational research and theory to guide
leadership decisions. To effect a positive
change in their learning community and
cultivate the attributes and attitudes of a
leader teacher, practitioners will also
engage in personal assessment and
analysis.

Module 4: Teacher as Professional
In this module, practitioners learn what it
means to be a professional in today’s
diverse and rapidly changing educational
landscape. They examine their values,
beliefs, vision, mission and their role in the
broader context of teaching profession.
They learn the importance of collaboration
in professional learning community and the
need to advocate for students, in the
field of education. Practitioners also
learn on how professional stance influences
student learning.
