LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Students will:
1. Write a synopsis or “blurb” on Tuck Everlasting
2. Create a movie poster which highlights the important events and images of the book.
ASSESSMENTS (How I will know students have achieved the objective(s))
 Students will be writing a synopsis of tuck everlasting as well as a movie poster that I will
assess at the end of two classes

 How do we capture a story in a few sentences in a way that interests the
audience?

PROCEDURE
Introduction Time
Introduction will be asking the students to create a very quick summary of Tuck
Everlasting with their table group.
After this, we will discuss what a synopsis is by using the three little pigs as an
example.
We will then read the synopsis or “blurb” from the back of the book “Tuck
Everlasting” and view some movie posters.
I will also read a few more “blurbs” from backs of other books.
Before they create one themselves, create a blurb as the class along with a tag-line
for “Tuck Everlasting” to give them an example of what my expectations are for
the project.
Body Time
We will be going through a quick PowerPoint that gives examples of the projects
and my expectations.
Students will create a synopsis and movie poster for the book tuck everlasting
Synopsis
Highlight the reasons why your readers should be reading your book right now
rather than all that they can find inside the book
- Have the characters
- Have the plot
- Have a conflict
- Interest the reader
- About 100 words
The poster must include:
- Book title
- Author
- Colourful Illustrations
- Quote that interest audience
- Movie rating A tagline
- Movie cast
- Premier Date
- Movie rating (number of stars)
- Your name (on the back)
Closure Time
If there is time at the end of the second class, I will ask students to share their
poster and book to the class and “sell it to us”
Students will be given the chance to write on laptops for those that
Student have troubles with writing.
Differentiation I will try to spend more time with the students that have trouble writing
and offer the write down their words for them if they are struggling.
Sponge

Activity/Activities

Reflections:
This lesson went really well. I thought that the examples were clear, and it was an engaging
lesson. I thought that the projects turned out well and the students had fun while doing it.
However, I still need to work on my transitions. I found that there were a lot of questions once
the project began and this was because of me either not mentioning something or by not making
sure it was clear to everyone. This could be easily fixed with a better transition. Lots of students
were also a little confused on the movie poster and it makes me think that we should have done
an example of that as a class as well.
