Dear, Dr. Powell:

Hello, my name is Jayanti Bunton. I am a 17 year old Senior at Mountain Pointe High School, in
the process of establishing my pedantic and lofty future life goals and applying to colleges to
realize them.

I have always taken school seriously and enjoyed learning with zeal. Because of this I now
withhold a 4.368 GPA, am in the top 5% of my graduating class, and have received two awards
for being on the honor roll my freshman and sophomore year. Beginning my honors learning
Freshman year, I took Honors Freshman English. Going on to my sophomore year, wanting to
strengthen my intelligence, I took Algebra 2 (one year ahead of my class), Honors Sophomore
English, and Honors Biology 1-2. I then enhanced my transcripts and explored more honors and
advanced courses my Junior year, taking AP US History, AP Language and Composition,
Pre-Calculus, Honors Spanish 5-6, and Honors Chemistry. I am willing to face a challenge and
work hard in everything I do, in order to obtain great success in the end. Taking a higher step has
always been something I am attracted to and I will continue to go the extra mile for whatever I
am involved in.

This year as a senior--while maintaining honors courses as I merge into my career goals and
prepare for the working world--I am taking Honors Spanish 7-8, and Advanced Composition,
while attending an interior design course at EVIT (East Valley Institute of Technology) in which
I receive dual enrollment credits at Scottsdale Community College and will be eligible for retail
certifications. This will also allow me to obtain an internship at a design firm while I attend
college and work towards my Bachelor in Fine Arts; with concentration on interior design.
Gaining work experience in this field as I finish high school will give me an advantage over my
peers in college and in the workforce as I search for internships and it shows that I have a strong
passion for this line of work and will do everything I can to succeed.

Over the course of high school I have made it a point to be as active and involved in my school
and community as possible. This allowed me to be more social and build team-work skills as
well as improve my time-management abilities. During my freshman and sophomore year I ran
track and field as a sprinter doing the 200m and 400m dash and would practice everyday for an
hour, and have at least one track meet every week. Additionally, I have participated in Black
Student Union, attending meetings every Thursday for an hour, since I was a freshman. I was
accepted into NHS and LHS my junior year of high school and I am now a secretary of LHS. My
junior year I also launched an interior design club, in which I am currently investigating how to
adjust during covid and not allowing the difficulties to hamper my success. My numerous
activities combined with my rigorous courses enforces my time-management abilities as well as
my level of organization. This also demonstrates my acquaintance with team working and
interacting with others on a daily basis, which is useful in many situations.

During the summers I work for my aunt at Priorities First Tax Center, LLC, doing 20 hours a
week as a bookkeeper where I bring in transactions and reconcile check registers for multiple
clients. This reveals my skill of paying attention to detail and being detail-oriented, which I will
be able to apply to other areas. This past summer I also virtually attended a Summer Enrichment
Business Program for Entrepreneurship at Howard University for a week in which myself and a
group of fellow acceptees took lectures on entrepreneurship, listened to multiple entrepreneurs,
interviewed an entrepreneur, and then put together a presentation on the entrepreneur we
interviewed. This provided me with insight into the entrepreneurial world and its intricacies,
giving me another advantage for the real world.

Throughout all 4 years of high school I have accumulated about 97 community service hours
with ICM Food and Clothing Bank, Wheat, ASU Project Humanities, Feed My Starving
Children, St. Mary’s Food Bank, Senior Living, Black Box Events, LHS Garden, AZ Humane
Society Drive, and other methods of at home community service (due to covid-19). The ICM
Food and Clothing Bank, the WHEAT organization, the LHS Garden, and the Black Box Events
are my favorite because I was able to interact with others, they involved a great deal of
teamwork, and they were more hands-on and physically active. I enjoy giving back to and being
involved with my community. My attraction and desire to have a meaningful impact on my
community is applicable to anything I do.

Excluding pretension, with my extensive academic and extracurricular background I hope that
you find that I am a teamplayer, interactive, detail-oriented, willing to stand up to a challenge
and explore a solution to any problem, and with my time-management skills combined with my
organizational skills, am able to multitask and execute tasks quickly and efficiently. Thank you
so much for your time and attention. If you have any further questions or comments please don’t
hesitate to contact me at jayantib2003@icloud.com or 480-438-1156.

Sincerely,
Jayanti Bunton
Senior High School Student
